Good morning everyone, I hope someone may be able to help. I have a '99 Marea 1.6 that for a few weeks has struggled to idle. Cold start was good, ticks over nicely. As soon as it warms up it stalls at every junction. I was thinking idle control valve, but lived with it for a bit. Yesterday, while driving, it started to judder real bad on zero throttle and at low revs coughs and farts until about 2500 revs. It then pics up cleanly. It no will not tick over at all. I can run it by winding up the throttle cable adjustment, a lot, but it barks bangs and judders. I've tried disconnecting sensors, and the one that gives a better result disconnected is the MAP sensor, I can turn down the idle quite a lot and it will still run, but REALLY rough.
I have checked for any air leaks on the induction side, in my experience this has a similar effect, but all is good. The leads are new and so are the plugs, but the plugs were very sooty when I checked them.
I’m thinking a sensor, but I’d appreciate any advice. I did wonder if a bad Lambda could cause this....
