Technical Making new remote keys

Technical Making new remote keys

So as an update. I bought a brand new KM100e from Auteldiag for £285. I bought a spare remote key from AliExpress for £9 inc delivery. They all arrived at the same time. I took my daughters original key and the new blank spare from AliExpress to a local key cutter whom cut the key for £9. I watched a YouTube video on how to program the keys with the KM100. Twice.
The third time watching the video, I followed the process with my own KM100e, and now have two working remote keys for my daughters Fiat 500 2013. If anyone is in Inverness and wants a spare blank key they need coding, I’ll do it for £20. You’ll have to buy your own blank keys and get the blades cut yourself though.

I even bought some self adhesive logos to stick on the button for £3 from AliExpress.

Bearing in mind everything that has been said in the thread - what is the point of the procedure as mentioned in the 2nd post? This post suggests MES can do this, but later on apparently only this Auteldiag KM100e tool can program the keys, and MES can't?

EDIT: Apparently might be something to do with "pre-coding" ? i.e. Keys provided by a dealer against your VIN or Fiat's generally would be pre-coded, and could be programmed using MES, but complete blanks like you get from Aliexpress, etc can't? That about right?

My understanding is as you have said. And all this to stop owners getting another key. It sure as hell doesnt stop criminals, or even slow them down!
