General Main Dealer Service Cost - Sticky?

Mine is due for a service this week have been quoted around £215 which is a bit expensive, thinking of cancelling and getting my local garage to do it.

On another note I noticed the other day that I don't have a servicing booklet on phoning the garage they said they will look into it, but I can't check the servicing intervals.
The car is 1 yr old with 13 k on the clock.
Can anyone confirm if the first service is 18 k or 2 yrs which ever is sooner because I don't want to get the car serviced if it's unnesscary.

I also don't want to be held to ransom by the dealer over missing service book anyone know if I can get one direct from Fiat.

Regards

Just had the 36k Service done for my 07 Dynamic at Palmers Watford.
36k Service - £197
Headlamp Adjust £ 9.45
Parts - £153.20
Total - £359.65
with VAT - £413.60 (n)(n)(n)(n)

Looks like I'm paying over the odds here, or are people just putting down Labour Costs for Service ?????

What parts did that include, cambelt?

What parts did that include, cambelt?

Hi Pottleflump

it included:-

Engine flush 10.95
Tutela Top4 1lt 8.50
Oil Filter 10.48
filtering element 12.19
Air Filter 20.29
filtering element 58.68
Selenia (47 of) 39.76
Environment chg 4.97

Total Parts £153.20

So the answer to your question is No..... No cambelt
According to the 'blurb' that they give you with your Service record, the drive belt is not replaced until 72k, and the 'Timing Drive Belt' (I am assuming 'Fiatese' for Cambelt) until 90k

Can I assume from your question that you think this is a TAD expensive ??

Cheers

Rob

Hi

If that includes all parts at £350 incl Vat, then according to MY dealer....that's a result. As you can see from my post earlier, I paid £350 + Vat................................

Hi Rob, yea, I saw your previous post, your dealer charged you £415 right? even my boss' 08 TT and 07 A4 TDi's services from Audi were less.
Yes, I have check £350.15 inclusive, I said to the girl it was very expensive and she said the 36k service was a major one. Just saw hellcat paying £250-£300 from a non-Fiat dealer, £350 doesn't sound too bad I supposed, still alot of money. Look like the PS3 has to wait then. :(

My dealer is offering a 2 or 3 year deal where I pay in advance for servicing, about £26/month. It helps spread the cost but works out at £275 per service on 1.4 T-Jet 120. This is quite a lot but they said it includes the "major" service which is normally as much as £400.

Does that sound like a reasonable deal or should I try calling local independents to see what they charge? Independents are an unknown quantity as far as reliability goes and I have no personal recommendations. At least a main dealer has a customer service department and is very keen to resolve problems if they occur. Any thoughts?

Thanks T14086. (I wanted to give you your 500th "thanks".)
:)

VAT garage + origina lparts....is it really worth it when dealer servicing can be obtained very cheaply these days?

lol cheaply? it used to cost me around £70 to do a full service on my astra that included using better grade oil, fuel filter, spark plugs, pollen filter, air filter, sump plug etc.. where as it could of cost me around £260 from vauxhall and i wouldnt imagin it would take them any longer then 1hr30 minutes and thats more then likely been generous as they have all the tools and know exactly where everything is and how to take it off effectivly

hardly think £400 is cheap from some garages after reading these posts... just to keep the warrenty happy i think i will have to shop around though. i guess this is where big companies have the advantage. As they can charge a fair amount of money due to people knowing they will loose out on warrenty if they dont. (n)

but life goes on i guess..sorry for my little rant lol im not getting at anyone. just my opinion.
