hmmm i think if i was to put a different fiat engine in, it would be something jap!

on the subject of rotary power, good call however what one? you can use one out of an rx7 and get upto, quoted, 280bhp (however a lot of the newer ones put out a lot more than that due to some agreement the jap government had back then.) or you could source a tripple rotor from a cosmo - b . . . . . very rare but ubber cool! rwd would make it quite twitchy though. short length and tall rigid body would mean if you got a slide on, you could very easily over correct it and then wake up a few weeks later in a&e

Right guys, so who is gonna pounce on that abarth lump then? I think we established already that an abarth swap would be pretty common and easy to pull off, relatively speaking that is ;)

While on the subject of insane swaps, a 5 cilinder coupe engine might not fit, but a V6 is just as wide a 3 cilinder :D

The 5-cyl is huge
As for the Alfa V6, it is longer than the 4-cyl TS and not far off the 5-cyl!
It isn't a compact engine!!

A better designed compact v6 would be a laugh, but it wouldn't be Italian.

Wow, didnt know the busso v6 was that long, havent really looked very closely at one i must admit.

I know mazda made the smallest (displacement-wise anyway) V6 is recent history for the mx-3, a 1.8 litre. No idea how big the block actually is.

I currently own a HGT punto and have a fire engined punto in the garage at the mo.
The 1.8 is a fair amount longer than the fire so would require some serious chopping of the inner wing to get it in (followed by the extra strengthening required.)
The extra weight would also require some careful setting up at the front and you would likely lose a fair amount of steering lock!
I have numerous engine swap/unfinished projects under my belt over the last 10 years and would always advize following the 'trodden path' unless you have very deep pockets (and you have a daily driver so you dont have to keep it mobile!)
I have looked into a coupe turbo engine in my punto and despite people having done them, its a pretty major job and my pockets are far too shallow at the mo :-(

it basically looks the same issues as fitting a pgt lump, why bother when a 1.4 16v basically slots in and with some light work could see 120bhp and less weight so a quicker car, besides what insurance company will touch a 1.8 16v seicento, really how would that call go lmfao
