As title, my MOT is due and was just wondering if there are any tips/areas i can look into myself before taking it in on Monday

it's a 1.4sx 1998

Broken bits??? lol sorry...

nah, check tyres tread levels, all lights work accordingly, break weare level, nothing hanging off, fluid levels and so on

if you look in the haynes manual there is several pages showing what needs to be checked for the mot!

Check your suspension. Got me on mine last time. Brake hoses too.

Yeah defo check the brake lines. Quite a few of mine were rusty and when I went to clean 1 of them up...

...drip drip drip.
 
I agree with Waderider, check out ukmot. Every aspect of the Test is covered. I wish I'd seen it before having my Brava MOT'd last week.

It's probably good to get it serviced before the Test. Failing that a DIY service is better than nothing. Do all your regular checks, and if need be lash out on new oil/filters, plugs etc!) Make sure your lights work properly.
Don't take on anything you're not confident of doing, you could make things worse.
