I will stick piccies up over the next couple of days, took lots of them so I need to go through and sort out the decent ones..........

KC, removing all of the trim is actually quite easy, to remove the centre consul you start at the back and work your way forward. Open up the consul compartment and pick out the false 'floor', underneath that you will find two screws remove them, then take off the handbrake gaiter and gear gaiter and remove the retaining screws under them, then remove that trim and the consul trim is exposed. Its like a jigsaw puzzle, give me a buzz if you get stuck. Removing the door panels are also very easy, remove the tweeters, door handle and lock then work your way around the edge of the trim giving it a good hearty hug to un-pop the poppers!!

While I had the dash apart I also added an extra mod, I installed a hidden switch for the power aerial under the dash. I can now turn the radio on to listen to CD's without the wonky aerial poking out the back wing!

I have finished fitting the Infinity speakers and am very happy with the result!! Don't underestimate what is involved with this job, I started yesterday afternoon about 14.00 and didn't finish until about 15.30 today! I did have a break of about an hour yesterday evening but worked on modifying speaker mountings until 01.30 this morning, then back out to the car for 08.30 to crack on...........

I have taken lots of photo's and will post a guide soon but this is actually quite an involved job and does require removing all of the lower dash trim, centre consul, door trims, lower half of the door surround rubber and speaker mount trim in the footwell, also requires cutting holes in the tweeter mounts and the speaker mounts..............

Test drove the new speakers with Portishead Strangers - nearly blew the roof off! (y) (y)
Well done LRB, top job. I have those speakers too - I got a car-audio shop to install them along with a new head unit and cd changer when I got the b. Now I'm glad I did!

Where did you put the crossovers? Mine are hidden on top of the transmission tunnel behind the dashboard.

You're right about the sound difference... and you can actually hear music on the motorway with the roof down(y)

In some ways I wish I had paid for an audio shop to fit them but am glad that I did it myself (that and the fact I saved a packed of cash!!).

I have to say a BIG thanks to Lee at Nice Ice in Bracknell, I found half way through fitting that I needed some advice and parts, despite the fact that I had not bought anything from the shop he gave a lot of advice on how to get the best sound out of the speakers, advised on a new head unit, amp and sub - top bloke! (y)

I mounted the crossovers with a strip of thick mastic under the bulkhead of the dashboard - hidden well out of the way! (y)

I have been trying to find speakers do they have to be shallow mount, I seen a set of infinitys a while back and ignored them 5000 series , should have bought them if anyone has any links where to buy, let me know

Shallow mounts are best as there is very little room behind panel that the speaker mounts on. I have made a little additional room by mounting the speakers on the trim rather than the body, doing this gave me about an extra inch which made all of the difference.

If you are prepared to put in a little effort in fitting the Infinity Reference 6010CS are a good set - I am very pleased so far!

Not really an LRB thread thing but took the kids to Legoland today to get their annual passes (thanks to Tesco vouchers!!) and FIAT had a display as you entered the complex with the Grande Punto, Bravo, 500 and 100BHP Panda.

Until now I would have had a 500 over the Panda but in the flesh the 100 BHP Panda is :yum:

The 100HP are an awesome car and so much better than the 500's im afraid, I miss mine something shocking at times and if i had the money id have it back in no time, if you haven't driven one go do it, brilliant fun

since having the real thing is impossible according to my bank manager, i wouldn't mind a kit-car looking like this :

an echo from the past...:

Al, why not build your own B-lookalike, based on a Panda: http://www.alphax-kitcars.com/

yes, it used to be Onyx Firefly :)

There's a few on the Panda section, however there is NO WAY that it looks anywhere near as good as the Barchetta so will maybe build a barchetta kit like the one fiat made when all is sorted on the family and finance front ;)

I finally downloaded the photo's from the speaker change a weekend ago, have not had the time to do the step by step guide (yet) but in the meantime here are a couple of photo's for your viewing pleasure!!

Well, I have just found that the wiper relay was clicking because the wiper motor was on the way out!

I have just spent a hour in the rain removing the entire wiper assembly and discovered the motor has burnt itself - stinks!

Luckily I have found a brand new FIAT replacement on eBay for £50 including a new relay, I will let you know how I get on.

Big learning point here for those of you with the clicking noise, don't ignore it as its probably going to result in the motor burning itself out and being that it is encased in a plastic sheath so if it gets too hit you run the risk of it melting or worse catching fire!
