Is there anything I should look out for?
I've seen a reasonably priced 2006/model with 60k miles
Do they have cambelts? Or chain?
What's the clutch like?
I currently own a multipla but the wife wants something smaller

it's a chain, but tiny.. a belt would be safer..,

good practical car though,
ours is a 1.4 petrol, auto..,

look at the one for £500 in classifieds,

Why would a belt be safer than a chain?
Surely chain is for the life of the car?

as I said..,
it's NOT robust,

life should be @140K, but a few instances of failure @ 80k,

but of course if you do 3k per year it's far better than a belt,( chain is oil immersed so no rust/ perishing..)

look in panda , doblo sections for failure tales.., :(

There are far many more of this 1.3 multijet Diesel engines on the road with no issues at all with the chain than those which do. That said my 1.3 Punto is now on 111k miles with no chain issues and fiat cleverly fitted sacrificial rockers between the valves and cams so if the chain lets go it shouldn't need a full engine strip down and rebuild, far better design than the 16v petrols

Waterpump is also on its own aux drive belt so non of the failing water pump issues many cars suffer from. All in all a much better engine choice than the 1.9 fiat Diesel engine.

Clutch is good for 100,000miles if not thrashed, they can suffer similar faults to the punto because they share a lot of parts/electrics. But generally because of the type of car they are they don't get used and abused by boy racers so tend to be fairly reliable

all true, (y)

I've NEVER worn out a clutch.,., even towing ..,

so many people seem to think there is NOTHING you need to do with a cam-chain,
just trying to add perspective:)
( I'm still convinced it's reliant on oil quality / spec,
that's why my "fussy designs" are all run on Selenia);)
