At the weekend, I test drove and put a deposit down on a 2005 Volvo S40. It drove nicely, had full main dealer service history with 1 owner.

However, over the course of the weekend, I realised that I didn't really want to part with my Stilo (I was trading it in), and actually had to phone them up and ask if I could cancel. Obviously I lost the deposit, but they were good about it.

Perhaps it was the grey interior? Maybe I worried that a Volvo wouldn't have the same community spirit has the forums here? The Volvo forums certainly look a bit unwelcoming. There's a category called "Towing & Caravanning"!!

But for some reason, I didn't really feel too happy loosing the Stilo for the Volvo. Even now, I still keep thinking about what a good choice the Volvo is, but I can't make myself certain enough to go back and buy it.

Anyone else ever had this?! Ever decided you couldn't part with your current car? (Despite it having done 87k miles, and needing a new passenger seat OCS sensor at a cost of many hundreds)

I had that with my first Hyundai coupe, it ended up being written off by a drunk in a BMW. I didn't get that feeling again until I picked up my Twin Air 500C. It has impressed me so much that I have just bought another car from the Fiat stable for my daughter to learn to drive in.

Mines a pain in my arse! :D I've spent a lot on it plus there's a lot of things that need sorting if I am to sell it on (a noisy gearbox, squealing clutch bearing and a sheared air con pipe to name a few) and I have thought about chucking it in for an alfa gulietta but I know I'ld regret it soon after as I've done that before.

Truth is I love the damm thing and I know once it's sorted it'll be amazing and there's always other cars in the future so good for you (y)

Just looking at photos of it now from last summer, I really would miss it!

I currently have a very similar Dialema with my punto, went and test drove an new MINI countryman diesel with a view to chopping in my punto however when all things considered the whole point in getting the punto was to save money and cheap motoring.

The mini would have cost the best part of £20k which is probably twice if not more the total amount my Punto has cost me since I got it including tax insurance and fuel in a space of 6 years, it still plods a long and does its job, I really don't need to replace it at the moment. Maybe in another couple of years..... Or more

I've been involved in a perpetual car search since my car was 3...taking in a wide range of vehicles from a 5 pot focus ST to a DS3 to a Mazda 2 sport and I've got to the point a few times where I was debating putting a deposit down drove home and ended up going "naaaah". Now I'm at the point where barring catastrophes or me getting a big payrise I'm happy enough battering the current car into the ground.

I test drove 2 grande Puntos today. One was a manual, the other was DSG semi auto. Unfortunately neither of them did anything for me. Prefer my Stilo!
I think I'll just patiently carry on with my stilo and wait for a Bravo to turn up at a local dealer :)
Preferably a dark red one!! :p
