i have seen some sort of brace fitted in a sei, it was fitted from arch to arch, using the existing rear seat bolts

i will have to weigh up all the bits that i have taken out, when i have taken it out

save me starting another thread :p , i noticed LANCIA stamped on the engine yesterday, just above the exhaust manifold, i never noticed that on the sei....am i special :D

Of course you are special. Whether the car is, I don't know.

But don't forget that the first car ever equipped with a FIRE engine was a Lancia.

BTW I have weighed a lot of stuuf and have got it on my database. It is quite interesting.

so this is the polite way of saying all cinqs have lancia stamped on them :p

so it is possible to get a cinq down to 700kg without the use of laxatives :D

Depends on the girl friend.

The sunroof makes it a bit heavier. Don't know whtehr you have one and later editions added weight too.

Removing the space saver wheel and replacing it by tyre weld reduces the weight by over 9kg.

The rear seats weigh IIRC (will look it up and correct because I have done it on Puntos, Centos and Pandas and might confuse figures) it is 14kg. The rear seatbelts I think was about 2.5kg the plastic bits with rear shelve and plastic trim reduce it by a few more kg. It is fairly easy to get below 700kg. It can be done below 600kg. But if James reads the poet he will warn you and tell you not to let me close to the car when I hear the word weight reduction.

How much of a weight loss would you get from changing some of the glass to perspex and is it road legal??

would make quite a bit of difference and yes i think it is road legal as i know of a few cars with perspex windows. i dont think you can change front windscreen though lol

I believe any glass surrounding the drivers head (e.g. in front and to the sides and above, legally needs to be glass, at least it deffinatly is when building a car from scratch as i unfortunatly found out

side windows can be perspex

I think he means getting it to pass an SVA test - some of the build rules are slightly different to that applied for mass produced cars.

Yes sorry, should've said that - thanks

Only prbalem with perspex windoes etc, is that they scratch dead easily e.g. if a bird cr*ps on your window after its ate them little seeds and you use your wipers to get it off...

What I want to know is how he knew it would be at least 8%...

8% is about 65kg....Hold on girls, don't shot me. Between your body weight and the weight you are carrying around is quite a difference. This is why female race drivers are not permitted to take their handbags racing;) .
