Technical Lambda Sensor replacement

just a quick bump on this thread guys. I have my new lambda sensor and went to take mine off just now but it looks like its rusted on :-(

is there a remedy for this or do i have to take it to a garage to get taken off?

dont buy a lambda socket because they aint much good
best thing is cut the wire off put a nice fitting 22mm ring spanner on and give it a clout with a hammer
or a long 22 mm socket might just fit with a ratchet and bit of pipe on the end

Well I've soaked it in wd40 overnight will keep doing the same throughout tomorrow and hopefully the heat and oil will help get it loose. Unfortunately the bumper seems to get in the way of my spanner so limited movement

What I am thinking of doing is getting it on a ramp and then putting a bar through the end of a spanner and dangling my weight in it. Would like to think 13 stone would be enough to shift it.

Bumper removal is a last resort as it takes a lot of effort to do that

i literally got a 21mm or 22mm open spanner on mine
Applied a little Shocking force ( palm of hand on ring end) and it worked free quiet easily for me.....

But if its dead - and wont budge, i seriously recommend getting a decent deep socket on it, force sometimes isn't the option, shocking it is

If you get a deep enough impact socket - that should make light work of it....

Ziggy

got hold of a 22mm spanner now to give it more of a chance; going to keep trying and spraying with wd40 until i get a chance to go somewhere with a pit/ramp

Sod's law is such that now I've purchased a replacement lambda sensor, it's not triggered an error again. Might just keep it in the packaging until I see the error again. I even treated myself to a Bahco shifting spanner for the occasion.

Been advised by the garage that i've jsut had an oil/oil filter change at was to use plusgas. They looked at it when it was on the ramp and they seem to think that spraying it with that would more than likely resolve the issue. May have to find myself a blowtorch now

I advised that in post #26 and even suggested a cheaper alternative! :bang:

I know mate, they didnt charge me for it, just gave it a go whilst it was up on the ramp. Have sprayed some on, will leave it to soak overnight and will spray again once at work tomorrow to help as much as possible. Going to clean the area with a wire brush too to try and help
