Were you given the key code card by your dealer? as mine said they kept them there. Why would they want to keep them?

They can't keep them as Fiat no longer supply them- ISR have the info and we have to get it from them whenever a key needs coding.

Maybe they were talking about the radio code card?

I never got my code card but I did get the card for the radio and the keys for the alloys which I registered with the ISR because they'll probably get lost.

why would you want it? Your comprimising the cars security by having a code card in the car or even in the house (thieves aint stupid) ...its best left where it is (ISR);)

I never said i was going to keep it in the car and i'm not that dumb and i don't think anyones going to break into my house to steal a fiat 500 radio code then break into my car and steal a radio that can only fit into another fiat 500...

He was referring to the key code which would enable someone to steal the car. Radios are valuable as well. Think about it, if the radio goes in my car do you think I'm going to ask the dealer how much? Nope, I'm going to go on eBay to buy the one someone stole from your car along with the radio code.

Code card for the radio looks like this.

Are you saying dealers don't make any security checks when people ask for a replacement car key?

Like what? A police check? A background check? I'm sure you'll probably need a V5 but I'm sure a criminal could forge that and then all they need to do is walk up to your car and drive away with the shiny new key :) As said before your key code is best left with the ISR, it's safer there and if you need it the number is etched on your windows.

All i wanted was the radio code in case the battery goes flat or i needed to remove it....:bang:
Yes but all the time you've been talking about your KEY code. If you want the radio code then ask your dealer what it is, then call the ISR up and register it with them, that way no matter what you can get it 24 hours a day with one phonecall.

The Radio Code Card is supplied with the car from the factory and is the grey folded card in 306maxi's picture.

We leave them in the owner's pack for the customer (to lose ) and record the radio code on the PDI sheet and under the vehicle details on our system for future reference.

TBH, unless you're swapping the radio from one car to another, it shouldn't lose it's code.
