Arhh! Still waiting to what the insurance has to say, and don't think the police have got hold of Anna's brother yet either.

But went to visit the B today in its place of hiding, couldn't bare to see it looking scratched and with the hood damaged so put the hard top on. (y) Looks good from this angle:) forgot how nice the B looks with the hard top on. :D. and Tia always puts a smile on my face.

Hey KC, you want to get Tia on 'Britain's got talent' looks like she is having a good sing in the photo!!

If you fancy a beer this week let me know, I am having a bit of a pants week as well :( Back is better but work front is looking a little lite at the moment and my last invoice has not been paid - if its not one thing its another.......

...and my last invoice has not been paid - if its not one thing its another.......

welcome to the wonderfull world of contracting... "they" (agency/umbrella/client) will ALWAYS try to stuff your last invoice after the end of contract. therefore you should invoice on a weekly basis and be willign to stand your ground (phone with sollicitor on speeddial in one hand, basebalbat with nails in the other hand), even for one weeks pay, otherwise word gets out and it becomes an uphill struggle

Got the call from Norwich Union today, (y) They are going ahead with the repair and quote from the garage, only they want to use another specialist for the supply and fit of a new mohair hood. So thats good news, :D

I dont mind that.

The B should get a new door and new paintwork to one complete side, i have a couple of small scuffs on the boot and so hope they can do that too. :D.

Spoke again with the police and yet to arrest the freak but said they will when they get a chance. :p

Excellent news KC, now book up that extended break in Cyprus...........

I am sure that things will work themselves out on my work front, just in a bit of a state of limbo at the moment - I am torn between looking for another permy role and looking for more contracting...............really want to do something for myself, just can't figure out where to start!

start with an accountant/financial advisor, he should be able to tell you the feasability of whatever wild ideas (like manufacturing sheepskin wool seatcovers for the B) you can come up with :)

if you want to go fully selfemployed, you could consider getting a white van, driving around the estates and scaring old biddies about the state of their roof, but that you'll fix it for small money...

Or you could become a writer... two to three hours a day writing *something* will build you a novella in less then two months.. ok, it will be first draft, and it won't be any good, but you'll have a sense of accomplishment althou it wont pay the bills. :) And Please... No Harry Potter clones!

Isn't there a cornershop or newspapershop nearby? If there isn't, you could open one, so you can send the kids on an early morning newspaperround :)

Congrats to KC3!

Lee: I got caught out by Computer Futures like that one time. I now work for several different companies and don't use an agent. It seems to work much better although sometimes I've had to wait a couple of weeks longer than expected.

I agree with RnRollie that weekly invoicing is the best!

Have you considered becoming a builder? I once had a builder who came in ripped the plaster off and left the job for months, like a certain wall I've heard about :D

Seriously though, it seems plumbers make more than IT people these days!

plumbers will NEVER be without emploi, unlike IT, where somewhere in the future computers will think and build themselves , people will ALWAYS need to use the loo

OOhhhhh, the thought of putting my hand down someone's blocked bog turns my stomach!!

Funny though, plumbers, carpenters, sparkys etc in my area (Thames Valley) are the guys driving the big cars now!! I actually know a couple of chaps who re-trained from IT to work in a trade and are doing very well.................. the issue I face with any heavy-ish work, or work that involves being physically 'flexible' is a challenge due to the back

I,m stuck:(

Got my van back from the sprayshop today as some **** had hit me in the rear a few weeks ago.

Only thing the new paintwork is slightly different shade(n)

This is the same garage planning to paint the B. Not so sure i want them to now.

I,m still awaiting certain confirmation from the insurers but can i take the B elsewhere.

Would really need some proper classic car painters so as to get a top job.

Any advice guys.

Take photos of the difference on the van and explain that you do not want the same "service" on the b

It's been stated elsewhere but you should be able to specify your choice of repairer.

Contact the insurance company and tell them you are not satisfied with the repair.

OK, so you are not going to get a new vehicle, but at least the colour should match. - After all, that's the reason you have insurance in the first place.

Good Luck

Glynn

High performance car sales would be fun. (y)

Yup, I have often dreamt about doing that.............in fact I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. An old friend of mine has offered me his 1988 911 for 6k, if I had a long term contract I would jump at it but it would dent the savings and shorten my ability to pay the mortgage while I am looking for the next source of income. Its not immaculate but is worth the 6k, currently in a Porsche specialist getting serviced, replacing rear callipers etc.............I am a bit torn as I could take a chance and take some money from the savings and hope that I pick up more work soon - or be sensible and hope that he does not sell it in the next few months so once I have more money I can buy it................
