Compare the rolling circumference with the old wheels/tyres. If 17s are much longer than standard the car will be over-geared = slower acceleration, use more petrol and stress the gearbox.

Paint the brakes black you wont want to advertise their tea plate size.

i know but its nothing MASSIVE is it if i decide to change my mind i can always re-sell these, but i think they will be alright as long as they look the part i aint bothered i dont drive like a nugget anyways so....

There are websites that will tell you the relative rolling radius of the tyres. But the gearbox "sees"
the circumference - about 6-2/7 times as much so a small radius change can be quite a bit longer where it matters. Anything more than 5% bigger can start to cause problems. 10% is a long way towards the next gear.

LMAO :D cant believe how much you jump on someones back on here when they put something on here

NEGATIVE AFTER NEGATIVE

Some of your stuff isnt exactly ideal and we dont want to get into that

every person has their own taste if it was all the same as you guys wanted it to be it would be a very sad world :yum:

Personally I think 17s dont suit the Punto. But I wasnt asked for my opinion on style
Which is why I was careful to point out the technical issues od large wheels with a non too tough gearbox. As for tea plate brake - its a fact - they stop the car adequately but they are small.

Ive had 17s on my car for nearly 2 years now and the box on my car used to drive 17s for years :) Ive had no problems apart from 2nd syncro being a bit weak. This is on a 6 speed box however, the 5 speeds dont seem to be as strong...

If I were you, a nice set of 16s suits these cars better :)

Some nutters out there put 18s on these cars... :bang:

18 = way to big - and it'll roll like a pig unless lowered + Diff stress
and the rubber will be so thin, it'll be pointless, might as well run on the rims

17" = Too big still, alot of stress on diff

16 = Tyre sizes aint as common, could find 16" cost more for tyres, then paying for a different size

15= FTW!

14 = if you are happy with stock wheels :)

ziggy

Always amused on threads like this:D Firstly I see no negative comments at all, I see constructive criticism & useful advise. Obviously it's up to the individual what he/she does with the pride & joy & what accoutrements they choose to adorn said motor;) but! as soon as you post up on here, just remember you will receive....good, bad & indifferent thoughts/comments.

If "cool" "sweet" or other up to the minute terminology is not heard....feet stamping is the order of the day:D Now all said & done I'm only making an observation here......:D

Here we are and let me say they are...... well nice (y)
