re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

there is no mod with a stilo no more :( but i don't mind popping up on the day too just to make sure who ever comes behaves :p

Sad state of affairs, biggest site for Fiat enthusiasts (in the world??) and there's no moderator with a Stilo - tsk tsk :nono:

I'm kidding :p

Now then Dave, define "behaves"

Depending on when this happens.... I'd almost certainly be up for it ;)
Personally I'd be hugely interested to find the route of the evil that is the engine fault alarm once and for all (not that it's happened since wednesday)(y)(y)(y)

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

Anyone fancy a trip to see me and Danny to see if we can get to the bottom of this problem for you? 1 car, preferably a mod, and a day of examiner and testing.

If my car can be of use let me know, i'm on the south coast of england. I'm not sure where you're based Numanr?

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

heres some pondering material.
heres a bit of a bosch data sheet for a afm, they are precisely designed and calibrated to work in the housing supplied and would work to some degree in any shape or dia pipe but wont work as designed.
http://www.guzzimental.com/documents/alfa/Bosch HFM5 Sensors.pdf
also heres a video of an astra cdti with a simota carbon filter housing but retaining the original afm complete.

can you put the original complete afm back in line in the gsr tubing and connect with jubilee clips etc either end as shown in video?.or to test can you put original pipework back on and fix gsr filter to end of afm housing?.
hope you get to the bottom of this.

That suggestion has been mentioned more than once in this thread and I think Abz was thinking of trying it. The problem is, I think, his map is suspect so it's unlikely to be a conclusive test anyway.

Be interesting if anyone else did it though (assuming they already have a stable map in place) :chin:

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

any updates on the induction abz?

No, despite my efforts, there has been none of the promised help/support from the supplier of my induction kit. Various domestic 'tweaks' have not produced the expected/hoped for results resulting in a dilemma for yours truly about next course of action.

I have a 'company' vehicle at the moment which will give me time to play with the Stilo. Standard induction will be going back on and see how it behaves, I will update this thread (when I can) on the outcome/what I find.

I still think it could be partly the remap itself, 'quietening down' the induction may yield results yet. Just wish I had more time and good weather to play with!!
I may look at an alternate map, but it's also possible the Stilo will be getting replaced by an Alfa in the early New Year........ So I may not bother myself too much :(

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

Im tell peter few times that if I can get one of this kit I can test a lot of diferent maps and find if maps are problem, but I think he is not interested... Im tell him that I will pay for kit, but if is realy something with kit I want change it when fixed version has been released...
So we must find some replacement induction kit for this GSR induction kit...

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

Amongst my many projects, I'm working on my own induction kit.
To be honest, the simplest thing to do IMHO is to keep all of the standard stuff except the airbox and filter. Replace that with something like the GSR cone filter (plenty of that type dual cone filter on eBay) and I suspect, on the Stilo JTD at least, you'd have all the induction you need.

Makes a lot of sense to me and seems a pity that wasn't done in the 1st place (y)

So are you BEEP free now you'll back with the standard induction?

Mine runs fine and completely BEEP free under power other than a rather minor problem at the very bottom end of the rev range. Ever since an ECU reset (forced due to having to remove battery to change dipped beam halogen recently) I've found mine is not so smooth between 800-1.1k rpm. It idles fine but there's now a sharper cut-off on overrun (good normally) and it doesn't like idle driving which is to say if you leave it in say 2nd then the ECU tries to reduce the revs below normal idle speed - causing heavy vibration.

The weird thing is it was quite different before the reset :chin:

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I think it'll be a simpler solution which requires substantially less outlay for the same results......

Not there yet, have to get a replacement air filter for the standard filter box and repair the filter box which got a smidgen 'broken' (with my blessing ) when the GSR kit originally went in.
However, once it's in I'll be putting the silver beatsie through it's paces to see if I get the same beep bloody beep beep every time I'm on 'interesting' roads.
Seems to arise most often when holding a gear, on and off power rapidly. It intrigues me :chin:

re: JTD - GSR induction & Red-Dot remaps!

Myself and Danny are still keen to help, I also have access to a tuner who I rate very highly so we can get even more impartial advice. Anyone fancy a trip before Chrimbo?
