Mk 1 Panda

I also see you have made the same mod to the door bins to fit some speakers as I did 20 years ago. Ah, the joys of chain drilling.:bang:

I seem to remember that you could buy dash-pod speakers from Fiat but they were very expensive compared to a nice set of standard speakers for Halfords. University student on a budget again!

i thought that this was probly the best place for the front speakers, and as long as they stay there, shuld allways look tidy! Used to have some after market pods that would lay in dash shelf thingy, but they were so bad, couldnt even hear the radio wen we were doing 60mph!

That windscreen looks like it might have been heavy enough to bend what was left under it's weight...
yeah, was pretty bad. you could push the windscreen in and out at the bottom corners! No wonder the car was leeking! I just hope that these repairs last, i never want to do that again, just the sheer volume of car parts that had to be removed! Had to have a gd memory!:D
bt looking gd now, appart from the slight colour mis-match, another thing rare about my mk 1 its colour! Had to be mixed up at £12 a can. Ouch!
By the way, halfords may be cheaper but my god they cant mix paint! It was almost 2x darker than it shuldve been. Cheaper tho! If that even matters.
Worst thing bout painting has to be wind tho, always too windy wen it comes to spraying the expensive layer on!
Tis very rewarding tho

I've just fitted a set of Pioneer speakers into the old dash speaker boxes and boy are they loud.

Got to be able to enjoy your music how much power have these babies? Thats 1 reason i fitted an amp in mine, cos it not such a quiet car! on the other hand, i think my cars music to my ears, u can get a really gd growl out of the 965cc, and the exaust note! all ive done to her is fit a K&N filter and a RC40 straight through exaust from a mini!
While on this subject, best thing ive done to my car is fit electronic ignition! Wat an improvement, in fuel consumption and throttle responce. the 1 i got is simple and requires no modification to ur existing set up. If u search for boyer branson ignition (if this is not correct then let me know), i think it is, shuld find a bike specialist. they do do systems for cars on request tho, and trust me ur panda will love you for it!

Great to see another Mk 1. I'm not a big fan of the mods and bits but considering the effort you have put in your Panda looks spot on, especially with the rot that was under the screen. But the most important thing of all is that you have saved it (y)(y)(y) My 45 had rot in the same place too. How did you repair it? I ended up cutting a section out of a scrapped Panda and welding it in. I've always liked that olive green colour too. Did you have to replace any other panels?

As has been said before, grill and mirrors are correct as they were first introduced when they launched the '45 Super', and they were then on the 4x4. Your mirrors are internal adjusters but mine are only bog standard

I met a chap from the North East at last years Summer Alfa day at Oakwell Hall, near Bradford, who was there with an Alfa Arna. I was there with my Panda and he told me he had just bought an 83 Panda 45 Super on Ebay (Apparently it was listed as a 'Fiat Pander' which is probably why I missed it and I don't think it was spotted here) and had just started it's restoration. There is also a girl in Lincolnshire with 2 Mk 1 Pandas as well, so you are not the only one out there, but you are certainly one of a few.......

Your pictures have also answered a question regarding 4x4 decals that was posed in this thread;

Again well done sir,

Vin

Oh man, i wish i had seen those decals on ebay! cos of the rust have lost some of the striping! ARSE! Oh well will keep an eye out! Yeah, they changed the 4x4 decals i think, although dont know wen cos they had the other 4x4 decals that are on most 4x4's on the early 1's aswell! perhaps it was an option, not such a popular 1! Man even the stipes on my car are rare!

I'll have to ask my dad, who bought it new! It has indeed been in the family its whole life!

And yes glad to hear my car had the desired jock wetting effect! but mental imagery slightly worrying!

Cheers

There is a lot of fibre glass if i'm honest, but for the windscreen i chose to get a friend of my dads to rebuild it and weld it. Bargain at £150! I still had to cut out the holes for the vents on the dash, and a tiny bit of panel beating then all i had to do was smooth the welds with chemical metal and filler, takes long enough as any imperfection in the surface finish is amplified wen it comes to painting it!
I managed to find a drivers side sill on ebay, thats gonna b fitted wen i get a chance! reduces the amount of work ive got to do at least. the wonders of ebay! Only £15 if i remember correctly :D

speaking of parts, if there are ne mk 1 doors 4 sale let me know, especially drivers side. i did try that car parts finder that was posted up somwhere on this forum, i forget wat the web address is now, but they only had a passenger door for almost £100 in total! sorry no can do!

loving the luxury internal adjusters for the mirrors by da by! lol sorry to rub it in!
