from the standard stereo in a marea?

the speakers dont seem to be able to handle the existing head unit.

has anyone changed the speakers and got a decent sound from the stock head? it's loud enough fer me just sounds 5**t!

if sop then what did you use?

if you change the speakers to aftermarket they will work but you will get a best sound if you chaneg the head unit too the headunits come with a amp built in roughly 45w is standard ish and get your speakers runnign at 45 will give you a good sound but to be honest the stock speakers are ****e and the head unit isnt too cleaver either, change both if your doing one.

the standard fiat stereos are 4 x 15W. Get yourself a new headunit and speakers if you want better sound

ok then, i submit!! lol

any suggestions for a reasonably priced set-up.

i dont really want a sub as it will defeat the object of an estate car.....

cheers

Get some comps then. I've heard JBL are pretty cheap and reliable.

No head unit EVER produces 45W, no matter what they claim. 10-15W is a realistic figure for any head unit regardless of make.

Depends on how fussy you are. I've now got a later-model Fiat head unit,(with CD control) which on it's own sounds a little better than the original one fitted at the factory.

Both these head units were run with standard Fiat speakers at the front, I've just changed the 6x9 rears, (Marea saloon) which improved things quite a bit.

As it's simpler and cheaper than changing the head unit,(and keeps the dash looking smarter) it might be worth you trying this first.

- In any event, better speakers won't go to waste if you do later decide to fit an aftermarket head unit. :)

if you are not impressed with the stock set-up a new head unit is a must they start of cheap and pretty much all will be better than what youv got i strongly recommend alpine the best head units around but that is an opinion and as far as im aware they start from 60quid. as far as speakers go set yourself a budget until that is done i would not bother commenting on which ones to get because this strongly varys on the price your willing to pay. As many stupid people will tell you there really impressed with there expensive speakers and then will thell you there running them off there head unit which as tom says is a fairly low wattage and poor amp compared to seprates
