Technical Ipod / Connect Nav+ connection

Hello, im sorry to bring up such an old thread, but I have 1 question.
On the connect nav+ unit, if the CD changer is connected will the last free MINI ISO port accept an audio connection via a ISO PHONO ADAPTER.

Thanks.

Hello, just to update you, I have found(and ordered) a simple wire connection for the ipod to your connect nav+, it is 8 pin mini ISO with a 3.5mm jack on the other end.
I think this is good simple ipod connection wire for those of you that are not too fussed about controlling the ipod through your steering wheel or nav unit.

Pixmania have got it £7 woohoo! Only downside is the postage cost is almaost as much as the wire.

Did you get your hands on the cable KK1??? Did it work?

Hi, sorry to keep you all waiting, but I am still waiting for the wire, Parcelforce screwed up the delivery, I should have got it last friday.
I have tracked the parcel and, fingers crossed, I should get it tomorrow.

If I get it tomorrow I will fit it in the evening and let you all know.

I was so frustrated about waiting that long for a bleedin wire, the parcel has been sitting in the P/Force depot since last thursday which across the road from me, I could have walked over and got it myself!

Sorry to keep you gays waiting but tomorrow should be the big day, im so excited!

Thanks

Well bad news folks.

It didn't work, I tried a couple of different ways of connecting it but to no avail.

It seems the nav unit does not recognise the connection, the cdc button is grayed out.

Well it was worth a go.

Hi All!

Sorry to bring the this up AGAIN, but realy undecided on what to go for, either the ice link fm or the ice link plus, are most of he issues resolved with the plus? Does any one know what model number I would need to go for if I went for the plus? On the other hand, how good is the sound quality of the ice fm? I would be really grateful for anyones opinions!

Hi all - I'm sorry to say this but mine won't connect anymore, I cannot get it to recognise the ipod, I can't access the firmware updates or get any response from Dension. Whilst this remains technically possible a manufacturer needs to build the right firmware to interface to the fiat headunit ... I know that's a very easy thing for me to say, and that it will take a great deal of work ... but I'm realising that Dension just aren't the company to do it, they are obviously swamped by the numbers of support calls for other units, let alone these ones.

I have been in touch with Connects2 (www.connects2.com) these guys respond to enquiries and seem to be more geared up and interested in their customers ... they were also quick to point out that they didn't support the Fiat ConnectNav+ head unit (sigh). But I have more confidence in them developing something in the short to medium term than Dension.

Maybe worth getting in touch with them, if we can build enough interest it might push the Fiat range up the "development list"?

Sorry it's not any better news.

Oh .. and I have an FM transmitter for the iPOD ... trust me, the difference between a direct feed into the headunit and FM quality is vast, having heard the difference I'm left disspointed by the poor sound and the constant interference from local pirate stations (I live in London!).

Well I have sent an email via connects2's technical mail address asking for an adaptor to be developed.

I said I was a memeber of this forum and that I hoped they would see the developement as a priority if they received lots of interest.

SO GET EMAILING!!!!!!

I presume this is just the standard Blaupunkt aux in cable that uses the CDC mini-din port? I guess it will activate the aux button when in audio.

johns .. the Connects2 and Dension devices are "middle-man" units designed to convert iPOD playlists into virtualised CD's which the CD-Changer port on the headunit will understand, allowing you to select CDC and use the steering wheel controls to change tracks and playlists.

I haven't been able to find a way of using the "AUX" button on the ConnectNAV+ or how you would then control the iPOD (if at all).

Yeah I appreciate you wouldn't get iPod control through Nav+, but with the normal aux cable you just put sound through via the headphone socket connected to two line ins (left and righ). Not such an elegant solution, but the quality would be better than via an FM modulator.

I have tried many different ways of trying to connect my mp3 player through the cdc socket, but i cant seem to trick the CN+. I also cant find any input for the aux button, i have got a wiring diagram for the connections on the back of the unit, but none seem to point out anything obvious to do with the aux input button?

yeah I cannot find any way to get sound into the HU using an AUX input ... not even sure where it is!!

Anthony, any chance of you posting the wiring diagrams or sending me an e-mail to [email protected] ? I'm trying to connect a Harman Kardon drive + play but even the local dealer doesn't have a clue ! Thanks.
