In my '72 500L I have a interior mirror bracket but no mirror, BUT it has wires coming from the under the front bonnet area, around the screen rubber up to the remains of a switch on the mirror bracket, so what should be there ? how would it look ?

Also, where you you get USED parts from for these beauties ?

Hi dung (I've been wanting to reply just so I could say that ),

I've posted a few photos of the mirror in my car. My original mirror was complete but in very poor shape and I had no luck finding a good second hand one so I had to buy a new one.

Unfortunately these cars were quite cheaply built and some of the parts didn't last. Compounding the problem is that until recently they may not have been looked after well or serviced regularly. I guess if it's broken on one car, after 40 years or so, it's likely to be broken on most. Your only options may be to either buy NOS or new.

Chris

Thanks for that Bambino, I looked in the haynes manuel wiring diagram and found out it was a interior light and mirror combo, but seeing it in the metal makes a lot of sense, I have the internals with the switch and bulb holder etc, but the main body's gone, (the arm has a plastic cover on it still, phew.)

I guess new it is then.
