Hi guys am back. Spent a year at uni using my bike and now am back home and looking for insurance again so I can get to work over the summer and earn a bit of money.
Just to answer further questions. It was a District Judge who herd my case. I've herd that they can be less lenient than normal magistrates however in my case she was lenient which was my mistake.
I've recently learnt by talking to insurance brokers/companies, that it is not the history of what happened to be but the codes of the convictions I have been given. My IN14 which is the insurance conviction blacklists me for admiral/elephant all other such linked companies. My CD10 for driving without due care sky rockets my premiums as its a serious driving offence. I also have a LC24 for my friend driving with accordance of a licence. If the Judge had been harsher and given me 12 points and a ban I would have still had to redo my test however I would only have one conviction on my licence for totting up which is less risk in insurance terms than a no insurance conviction + two others.
My insurance quotes have gone down by a few hundreds however I have also discovered that if I insured my vehicle at my uni address it would be 2k cheaper. As I am living at home over the summer (june-sept), would I still be able to insure my vehicle at my uni address. The insurance companies can't make their minds up so would it be allowed??
One last thing. Seen as am blacklisted from pretty much all major insurance companies, does anybody know of any small insurance companies that specialise in young or convicted drivers, that won't mess me around like other companies have done. Much appreciated.
