Hello,

Has anyone got the time and knowhow to put together a step by step how guide for lowering a stilo with Eibachs and fitting blistein shocks?

I really want to do this myself, i'm quite mechanically minded but havn't worked on many modern cars so am abit apprehensive????

pictures would be good!

also what tools are required?

cheers:D

I had my Eibachs done via Nige at Angel Tuning!

BUT I know a lot of guys can do it themselves [just not me ;)]

IF you do intend to go down this road, loads of pics and guide would be good for the new HOW-TO section (y)

TBH mate unless you're a trained technician I wouldn't do it! I didn't even do my own had the springs fitted for me at work by one of the techs there!(y) The shocks look a real pain in the arse to get off & you'll need some spring compressors. Good choice on the shocks though you'll definately notice the improvement!(y) I would also recommend a strut brace as well!(y)

Im not that car-mechanically-minded but I managed to fit new springs to my Punto and Fabia. Give it a go :D Make sure you spare plenty of time to do it- a whole day and see if a mate will give you a hand.

Guides do help but what you have to do is right there in front of you, take pictures and notes of what youve taken off where etc.......In my experience (general) its a case of doing the fronts first-

Wheels off.
Car on axel stands.
Unclip any hosing from the strut (brake lines etc).
Disconnect any anti roll bars.
Get the bottom of the strut out of the hub housing (easier said than done on some cars- my Fabia  Punto was easy).
Undo the bolts at the top of the strut- under the bonnet.
Take out the whole strut with spring.
Compress the spring and remove the bolt holding the spring in. This is usually dead tight so I got local Kwik Fit type garage with a whizzy gun to undo it for a fiver.
Swap springs over, cut bump stops (if required) and tighten up the top nut
Re-fit the whole unit back where it came from.

The backs will be a piece of **** in comparison; if the Stilo uses a trailing arm and not macpherson struts like the front. Which does it have??!! Cant be bothered explaining if it uses different rear suspension.

NOTE- that is a really basic/general guide and some special tools might be needed depending on the car. So probably wont be that straight forward. :p

Oh right just read he wanted to fit shocks aswell! There would be no more work involved in changing the shocks. If anything it would be less work- no need to take apart the standard units (unless components are needed from these, like bump stops or whatever)
