Hi folks,

Has anyone got any experience fitting Official Fiat wind deflectors?

I'm picking a set up on Saturday from my local dealer while my car is being serviced, but they wanted £40 to fit them!! So I thought I'd give it ago myself.

I'm guessing they won't have any instructions so was hoping to get some tips here before attempting it tomorrow :)

Thanks,
B

P.S Mine is a 3-door.

yup, mine have been on and off a couple of cars now, they are easy... just make sure you have a bottle of light oil (wd40 etc) and an large flat screwdriver or chisel. when you fit them they are pretty self explanity, but you will need to open up the runners very slightly otherwise the pinch sensors will kick in and the window drops. just wedge the screwdriver / chisel into the runner where the deflectors go and open up (careful not to damage it) and just gently open it up, you dont need much, then spray some wd40 in those areas.
i found that after a couple of weeks i had to do the wedging part again as it was interfering with the window operation but after that it should settle and be fine.

The official Fiat wind defectors are supplied with pictorial fitting instructions and a plastic wedge to expand the channels. You don't need to risk damaging the channels with a screwdriver or chisel.

The deflectors fit between the outer edge of the rubber channel and the metal door channel. Should take about 3-4 minutes a side to fit.

Brilliant, thanks for the tips (y)

Considering there are only two of them for my car the garage were going to charge me 30mins labour for fitting.

Yep I know the bit that your talking about, good to know what they come with instructions (y)

I'll only use a screwdriver if I'm missing the plastic wedge, and I'll wrap it in cloth to help prevent damage

Has anyone fitted some to a 5-door before and got pics?

Also, anyone been through any auto carwashes with them sucessfully

This is the 5 door one fitted to my MW. They're quite narrow so not a lot to see.

Car's a bit grubby, it's 40°C here and dust everywhere.

I've taken them through a car wash OK but it misses the top part of the window with them on so I always take them off now. Only takes 5 seconds once you get the hang of it.

Yes they are OEM. Have the FIAT logo engraved in them and came in a Fiat box.

I bought them cheap from an eBay seller. £3.99 I think they were.

I only wanted the front ones so I could keep the windows open a little when it rains without flooding the door switches

mine were official when purchased back in 2004, they never came with any wedge

Thanks for all the info everyone :)

After a little bit of head scratching I managed to get them installed over the weekend.
I think the fittings are slightly different for the 3-door and the 5-door as pictured above.

Mine came with little S shaped plastic runners to hold the back of the deflector in place, I could only find one place for it to fit so I hope that I got it right.

Here is how mine is fitted at the back with the S clip attached to the upright of the door....

that bit is suppose to go into the the runners thus the wedges, i also done it like this originally so dont worry, it does make the window slow down on that area you really have to play with it to get it correct.

Doh!!
I hope they are easy to get out as they are stuck in with the sticky pad that comes on the top of them.

So if I understand correctly does that plastic clip attach to the upright in the same place that I have it currently but with the slot that holds the deflector on the inside??

Evening sorry to bring an old thread up but didnt want to start a new one.

I have spotted a set for my m/w because when it rains or use screen wash with the window open abit the aqua it runs in.

id love an oem with the Fiat logo on them, but cant find an oem on ebay but found these:

I know its an old thread but does anyone recommend a set or could point me to an Oem set? i think it makes the car look better also
