Technical Installing aftermarket Rev Counter 1.1 panda

Technical Installing aftermarket Rev Counter 1.1 panda

I ended up buying new stalks with the trip button and a dynamic cluster with only 8000 miles. But just came across a multijet with the reconfigurable multifunctional display. Would that work in a petrol car?
I have no idea
I dont know who you would ask

I suspect not. The fuel system is used by the trip. Significantly different

I got my dynamic cluster today and I guess it had a bumpy ride to reach me. The needles have moved away from their place.
Any way I can fix this?

should be okay
second half of the video

Yep thats what I did, opened it up and placed it back into the default position.

I installed the cluster and realised that the door light and oil light stay faintly on for some reason. Even when its locked

I had my door closed and I changed my oil recently so its certainly something electrical. Decided to disconnect the battery just incase those faint lights kill the battery

Mileage is flashing - will sort that after I fix those lights

is it bleeding through from the handbrake light

if you release the handbrake does the glow go out

if you remove the key and wait until the body computer switches the display down does the glow go out

I never tried releasing the handbrake

However when I locked my car and waited for the interior light and mileage to dissappear. The door light and oil light stayed faintly on

All the warning lamps are switched on and off via canbus. I suspect the dash is faulty. MultiECUscan is able to toggle each on and off. If it still glows when toggled off its highly probable that it the cluster.

while glowing try gently wiggling the dash connectors

with the battery disconnected its worth unplugging everything and inspect the connectors for bent pins

there's a small chance a proxy align is needed to get everything talking correctly but I would do this until the situation is explained to the seller.

yes I know this is a ka2 but suspect the cause is probably correct

Ohh it might be water, I remember taking it out of the packaging and it was damp.

I guess I should take it out of my car and try drying it with a hair dryer or something?

But first I will try wiggling the dash wires.

I have not got the software yet, I'm hoping the local alfa specialist garage could do that for me

I'm also minded to think the cluster is faulty. The faintly glowing light issue crops up from time to time, particularly on the 500 forum, and in every case that I can recall, replacing the cluster has been the only way of solving the problem.

MES can toggle the lights, but I doubt it'll do anything to fix this. It should, however, sort out the flashing mileage if you carry out a proxi alignment.

My guess on what's occurred here is that the cluster you've bought has got damp, either in storage or in transit, and powering it up whilst still damp has caused this to happen. You can try drying it, but my own experience with electronics has been that drying usually works only on boards which haven't been under power whilst wet. Once powered up wet, the damage is usually permanent.

If you are thinking of returning the cluster to the seller, I'd suggest you don't do anything further (and certainly don't do a proxi alignment), or they might use that as a reason not to accept the return. You need to return it in as near to 'as delivered' condition as possible. If you use MES to up the mileage on the cluster to match your own vehicle, that can't be reversed, and would likely result in the seller refusing to refund your money.

it was damp.
Doesn't sound like it had a pleasant journey getting to you 😒

i wouldn't heat it with a hairdryer while still sealed, the moisture stays inside an condenses elsewhere

moisture needs to be able to escape

normally I would spay 100% isopropyl which the moisture mixes with and evaporates off.

however just leaving it open in a warm dry place will work just takes longer. Old fashioned airing cupboards were great for this.

Be careful with a hairdryer. There hot enough to damage plastics. Use a warm setting and keep it moving

Just connected up the battery, and yes when I release the handbrake the door light still glows

Just noticed after a few minutes the glow dissappears, until I put the key into acc

Will try leaving it out for a couple of hours 👍🤞

Unfortunately the door and oil light still glow.

One thing I've noticed is when I switch my lights onto main and then switch the rear fogs on, the door light gets brighter and for some reason the rear demister light comes on instead on the rear fog

I am going to forget about that for now and focus on changing my stalks so it has a trip button

so last week I was able to obtain a panda 100hp dash with only 2500miles!!

plugged it in, everything works as it should. Apart from auto locks which does not lock the drivers door and outside temp.

Today I went to the local Alfa specialist and asked them to fix my flashing mileage and they ran the proxi alignment. However once I got my car back I realised the mileage has stopped flashing but it was not my original milage. So now it shows 2500 miles and does not flash. This is obviously wrong and i noticed after the service I no longer have auto lock in the menu but it still locks.

is there any way I can fix this?

I decided to buy a elm327 cable with adapters and I’m going to buy multiecuscan software once the cables arrives and try to fix this using the software.

IIRC your car is a 2010 Active Eco, yes?

The Active does not have remote locking, and there is no solenoid in the drivers door, so autolock is never going to lock that door because the required hardware isn't present. Some have said it isn't just the solenoid; the wiring isn't there, either. This crops up pretty regularly as quite a few folks have wanted to retrofit remote locking to cars originally built without it. The consensus has always been that whilst theoretically possible, there's too many parts required, and too much work involved, to make it viable and IIRC no one has ever reported doing so successfully.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an outside temperature sensor on the Active either.

MES is a great thing to have, but it isn't going to resolve either of these issues on its own.
