Technical Ignition barrel

Had a bit of a moment this morning at the petrol station, the ignition key came out with the barrell still on it!!!!
I managed to get it back in and started but it was a bit touch and go for a mement???
Anyone else had this issue and is it knackered and needs to be relaced or fixable???

HELP PLEASE!

Had a look but cannot find anything!!!
Its happened again a couple of times, getting used to it now LOL
The last two times it just slotted back in OK.
I will kepp my eye out for one.
(This is actually my daughters car which I'm using as a daily driver to get everything sorted on it so it's OK for her when she eventually starts driving!!!)
So far fitted a new door mirror and cam belt kit, serviced and the seat recliner has been sorted.
Just need to get the speedo fixed as its noisy and that will be it.
It's a scruffy little thing, but runs great.

probably missing a circlip / springclip

clutch cable..??,
undo at g-box and let SOME oil work it's way up the outer sleeve,( suspend off the bonnet for as few hours / ovenight ..
not as far as the dash though..as the speedo head needs to be DRY,
