hello l have a 1997 dacato 100 van [deisel ] got to fiddle with key in lock to get it to fire up been told its the transponder or ecu but does a van this old have a ecu could l but starter button on dash to by past ign some how thanks for any help

Hello, and welcome to FF,


your vehicle will have an ECU .. AND an Immobiliser,


so " fiddling with key"... what happens..??,


look to see what lights come on dash, then go out BEFORE turning the last bit to crank engine,

do the glowplugs ALWAYS light-up .. then go out without "flashing.."??,

thank you for reply-what happensl turn key when glow plug light goes out but nothing no ign contact no engine turn over after waiting a few minuets and turnig key about 6 times waiting for light to go out it fires up--- l had the same trouble with a peogout desil but engine turned over but would not fire it was the ecu not reconizing the key so l was told any help gratfull --were the ecu on dacato 100 van l down even no were the fuse box is thanks
