But please somebody tell me I did the right thing?

We just got back one of our cwks for maths. One of the questions was extremely difficult (i.e. I doubt more than 2-3 people did it in the year). I had a go and got 6/6 on part a but 0/4 on part B. Hence 6/10 on that section. The marker awarded me 50/50 which is wrong, I should have got 46/50.

I just emailed to tell them of the mistake :(

Yes, my first year DOES count :( I just couldn't break my morales for a few lousy marks I didn't deserve.

In 4 years time, if the difference between a classification is worth the same as these marks, i will never forgive myself lol. For now, I can smile :)

But Gaz, I could hardly stand up for what I believe (as much truth as possible etc.) if I was a liar, that's like being a politician.

Stu, a first right now seems impossible, I would be happy with a 2:1 (I am not doing very well at all :( ) - SHould be doing a lot of revising this christmas though :)

It is my problem if I am awared marks I don't deserve.

You can't preach unless you walk the walk Steve.

I just feel stupid for doing it, my friends said "i wouldn't" "don't" but then stupid bitch Nicola (my fave friend ;) ) said "Oh i would, it's wrong, i would go and do it now" I know she wouldn't, 100% fact, hence why I did it, I didn't want to do what she would do!

hahaha! I WIN!!!

Thanks.

I think it best to reward your honesty and let you keep the marks
with a clean conscience.

Well done that man!

I hate exams of all forms, when training in Air Traffic Control you need to achieve a 70% pass mark in all written & verbal exams, but thats not just 70% overall, its 70% for every single question within the exams. This is how crazy it is, there is a girl I know who sat an written exam last week and got 95% overall, but still failed as she got 1/2 mark under in one question, yet there was another person got 84% overall and passed as they got the desired mark in every question, how annoying would that be

I think you did the right thing Paul, maybe they just have a weird way of working out the marks that they didn't tell you about.

I considered that (thought the question might have been ignored in the marking because it was a stupidly difficult one!) or only considered if other mistakes were made elsewhere. However, my friend Jeremy had exactly the same right and wrong but got 46/50 so I had to discount that.

I am always the first to say I deserve extra marks, I think in the same way I should be the the first to say I don't. Amazingly the lecturer thinks I should have them anyway lol.

i cant believe we have so many honest people on the forum :D

if you got given an extra tenner in a shop would you give it back
Anything more than a £1 I think I would, we all make mistakes. If however I was annoyed by the shop or whatever, I would be less inclined to. In the same way, if I gave £20 and got change for £10, I would make it clear they have made a mistake.

I know it may mean people have an advantage over me but I can now be happy I did the correct thing and honesty can pay off.

When I lost my mobile phone, the person who found it made no attempt to get it me back. If I found a mobile phone I would try my absolute to get it back to the owner - despite this.

Have you done your lecturer any special favours recently ;)
Cheeky, I don't even know who he is!

I know the name of the person who leads the course but he doesn't teach us, I would have contacted the lecturer who teaches us but I don't have a clue what his name is (it's like that at uni!).
