...the boot lid, I mean :D

Anybody know where the rub might be? I tried applying WD40 behind '19' (attached pic), but to no avail; the lever's still stuck (yes, it is unlocked ;) ). Is there anywhere I can access the wire from to see if it has snagged on something?

lol - I just had a feeling you'd be the first to answer :D

Doh....thanks - I always forget to use the search feature

I've had a look around, but haven't found anything on this. The closest I came was this - but that was just a post about somebody else having the same problem, but no fix :bang:.

Dont know if it's any help robot but one thing you could try is:- pull both seats forward, take the black covering off the panel behind the seats. You will have to undo the bottom of the seat belts and the centre console and also remove the plastic covers either side that covers the hood mechanism. Then remove the grey coloured metal panel and this gives you access to the petrol tank but it also gives you some access to the boot release cable. I dont know if this will help but if all else fails, and you followed my earlier advice and hit it with a hammer and that didnt work then you have nothing to lose:eek:

Any chance you've had a look? :D Hopefully I'll have come far enough with rebuilding the dash today, that I could have a see if I could fix the boot as well

I did what you wrote superspotty - but for some reason the metal panel didn't want to come away . It looked like I'd have to remove the whole roof-mechanism to be able to remove it. So, I ended up just putting it back together again

After I had put it back together I started pulling it a few times, and lo and behold! - it popped. Obviously I lubed it up well before I started pulling it :D.

Strange.

You obviously didnt pull it hard enough or maybe for long enough:eek:
The panel is stuck down at the bottom and all it needed was a couple of gentle tugs:eek:  I also used a screwdriver placed in the right spots to help it along:eek:
The panel does come out without removing the hood mechanism believe me 'cos I've done it twice now:) but hey.........if it's working, no need(y)

Kinky... screwdriver. I'm gonna rummage through my toolbox and pay my missus a visit :D

Believe me, I pulled it long and hard :p

Probably a good idea now you have got it open to take the cable off and give it a good seeing to??:D
Dont tell me you've shut it again:eek:

I did leave it open ;) Made sure that I greased all parts I could reach before shutting it again, and it has worked since. Fingers crossed

I got a pm from 'Richard in France' about how to fix it. Figured I'll paste it here in case any of you experience the same problem:

"You need to remove the plastic dressing from the rear bulkhead. You'll then be able to get into the boot space. You need very long arms or a tool (I used a piece of steel) to unlock the boot by flicking the mechanism aside. DO NOT RECLOSE THE BOOT (like I did).

You can then trace the cable all the way from the boot to the door pillar. DO NOT REMOVE THE OUTER SLEEVE!!!!!!! You need to find a replacement CABLE with the nipple end at the door pillar and the raw end at the boot end.

It's actually really easy, technically, but you'll grunt and groan, take the skin off your knuckles and generally get a bit sweaty doing the job as it's in a really confined space!

PS - the plastic dressing is a real b*tch to get back on perfectly... "

That plastic "dressing" is such a bugger to manouvre, probably easier to heat it up somehow...............not with a blowtorch though:eek:

Something in the variator area. I had the diesel sound, had variator changed by my brother, who did it for free (so no chance of complaining ) - et voila - terrible engine sound. It sounds like a 'scraping' sound up to about 2600 rpm. I was thinking about recording it and putting it up here for tips on what it might be, but I've so far been too lazy
