I've got a 1.8 Bravo (1998) and recently had one of the silencers develop an irritating rattle, spoke to Kwik Fit etc and they said as the exhaust was a single section from cat back, it would all need replacing, costing 200 quid plus. "fook that" thought I, and got a second hand system which I fitted one afternoon a few months ago, and which cost the sum of 60 quid.

Anyways, all was well till I noticed a rumbling noise coming from the backbox this time! Sounds like a loose baffle which is most prevalent when hot. Anyway, I'd quite like one of those custom stainless back box thingies, but realise I'm going to have to cut off the existing one to replace it - but how the hell do I attach a new one, and more importantly how do I get it to hang off the mounting rubbers?

Your help would be greatly appreciated, along with pointers to places I could get a suitable back box from along with prices - oh, and if you could fit it for me too and bring me a cup of tea I'd be overjoyed, but that's not essential :) If any of you guys have done it, pitfalls and recommendations would be gratefully received!

Cheers all

The easiest way is to take out the existing one and cut the back box off. Then cut town the metal holders from the old back box and weld them on the new in the same places where they where on the old. Weld the back box on the middle box and your done :) . Try not to burn through the metal of the new back box ;)
