General how easy is it to paint calipers?

Going to paint my GPS calipers red soon and have already had experience of painting calipers on 320. I used VHT paint for calipers from Frosts Auto restorations. (y)
I applied about five coats after cleaning with drill mounted wire brush and paint prep cloths from halfrauds.
I did detach the caliper from the mounting bracket and then mask around it and spray it on the car.:) Two years on it still cleans up well with hose and sponge.

Ive now got my caliper paint and it comes with some instructions. i just thought i would ask those who have already done it.

obviously i would need to clean the calipers before i paint them. what would be the best way to do this?

all replies much appreciated(y)

yet another Rolf epic............................

now if only you thought to look in the guides section, its whats its there for you know

I bought a spray can of metallic green enamal paint for £2.50 from the market, it near enough matches car colour, washed the caliper with brake cleaner dryed with a cloth masked up disc and any where else I did not want green and sprayed em, that was 2 years ago, still looking good even after many washes with wheel cleaner and jet washing, I think that brake paint is to expensive for what it does. manifold paint I can understand but caliper paint, I think this is something the accesorie market is cashing in on personally.
As a test I have recently (3 Months ago) put some OZ wheels on the wifes Renault Megane Coupe, so I painted her calipers as well, this time again whilst in the market I bought a tin of Capsicum red (her car colour) bog standard body spray paint this one cost me a whole quid, again washed caliper in brake cleaner as before dryed and masked up but this time applied a couple of coats of grey prima which was hanging around in the garage, due to the spray paint not having very good coverage, once dry and hard about 20 mins I then sprayed both calipers red, again left this about 20 mins and then applied some clear lacqure, well what a finish!!! that was 3 months ago, they still look good now, no chips or flakes as of yet, and the test is still ongoing!

Why are you painting your callipers? if you got steel wheels then it's pointless anyway! i'd sort out the Alloys before considering painting them. could of given yourself plenty of time to shop around for cheaper paint! £24 for a tin of paint, someone saw you coming :ROFLMAO:
