General Is it rust? - boot lid / tail gate

I am assuming this is rust - but it is as if the paint is bubbling up in a way I have not seen before.

Is rust here a common problem - and how should i treat and or prevent it.

You've never seen paint flaking off? How old are you (~25, "Gen Z", raised by smartphones, you can't Google things etc.)? OK.
Try to scrape/scratch those bubbles, with piece of plastic. Test (how bad it is - if the paint flakes easily it must be addressed this year).
Yes, it's a rust. Possible (water) sources are: third (central) stop lamp and the wiper blade axle.

You live in a damp climate like me..

I have owned 4 x punto 199, and they all dribble water from the tailgate when opened.. (After rainy days..)


I have not investigated.. But also not seen rust..
TBH some earlier Fiat's I owned had composite tailgate.. So in my mind I had not been concerned.

My mid 80's cheap cars All rusted,
I've not addressed rust since the 1989 tipo arrived
