My lad's Grande Punto (2007, 3DR) has a door open caption which I cannot seem to fault find.

I have checked the looms in the boot hinge area and repaired any broken wires and replaced the boot locking mechanism (twice!). I have also taken the drivers door off to repair the wiring loom that has been damaged in the hinge area. I unplugged each front door in turn and both together but that didn't clear the warning (would this help diagnosing and isolate the fault to the boot?).

The warning symbol did clear a couple of weeks ago then started flickering again and is now on permanently. I assume this means it could be a wiring fault but could it be door locking mechanisms on the front doors?

I just want to get rid of the warning light and don't care whether it works or not. Is there anything I can do (other than drilling a hole in the instrument cluster as seen on Instagram!) to get rid of the warning? I want to use the car for my youngest's driving test but we can't with just that warning on the dash.

Appreciate any thoughts or solutions. I've run out of ideas or ways to solve the problem and I tried all the numerous threads on here.

Thank you. I’ll get a bit of help as electrical diagnostics is not my strong suit. I’m ok on my 1967 Alfa Romeo wiring but that fits on a side of A4.

You can check the signals via OBD (Body Computer module). Cross check (software VS real signals at body computer pins).
