Just came to start my marea 2.4jtd however it wont start, when i put the key in the ignition and give it a single turn i get the seatbelt light the immobilzer light and a few other flashing on my dash bord aswell as a loud clicking noise which sounds as it is coming from the glove box area.

I turn the key the one extra turn and all the light go out and the noise stops but nothing attempts to fire

any ideas?

This is very similar to what happened to my car a couple of weeks ago. Turned out the battery had just a few volts left in it. After charging and then leaving for 10 minutes it had lost a lot of charge again. Turned out to be a faulty battery.

yeah its def the battry just had it going and all fine there will see if i can get the bat removed and bring it home. but when got it jumped they had a quick look at the bat and side its pretty small for a diesal car what should it be?

Someone there got a multimeter? Test it's voltage. Get it on a charger if they have one. Otherwise its a trip to halfords for a new battery.

It's a number 96 or something.. Basically its a massive 2 handled monster..

well just went to start it again to move it round the back but was dead as the dodo again so gave the key to service whos going to jump it so its safe for the night and going to check the bat and the alternator

well mines a 510 when they say i should have a 590 if that means anything, there going to charge it at work for me over night and see how things go tomorrow, are you going to the quiz tonight?

Same thing happened with my battery very suddenly! New battery sorted it, bought a varta battery with a charge indicator from a motor factor about 50 quid/ 3 year warranty ( for 2.4 engine).

Hi, Varta Blue, D21 12v- 60A- 640A (EN) Guy @ factor shop assured me recommended for car, this replaced original one which seemed to be slightly bigger external dimension. But it has done the trick so far, even when i ran out of Deisal and cranked it over for ages.( b4 realising no fuel in tank, gauge desn`t seem to go all the way into red, maybe worth knowing if this is common?)
Good Luck
