Connect to the ABS module and read the codes you have lights on they will be logged

It would be the first port of call for me, and see where it leads

Unplugging and reinserting the connector on the ABS is also .a good start giving the intermittent nature

Haven't got round to getting MES yet, planning on doing so, assume I'll need a special lead to connect to the ABS ECU to read those codes?

I did look at the connector on the ABS at the weekend, and I couldn't easily pull the plug, I didn't want to force it and do damage! Like many similar secure connectors it appears to need a lever opening, but it didn't want to unlock, and it wasn't obvious what the release mechanism was for this connector. See pic, any help on how it disengages appreciated!

OK, did Sunday's misbehaviour coincide with rain again? Just wondering if it might be wet related (which I think was your suspicion?) If it is just temperature that suggests a sketchy (high resistance) contact to me.
No rain, just a drop in temp overnight from almost 20during the day to less than 5 deg overnight.

Yesterday was warm again, and back to best behaviour!

This morning the lights were on first thing, and went out during the morning journey, but no S/S available.

This evening was wet, and the temp dipped with it, but no lights and S/S was back along with hill holder too.

It's a bit patchy and random, but still better with the warmer weather.

Concur with the potential for a high resistance contact, it's just the idea of tracking that down that has me sweating!
 
Yours is a 2014 car? That means it still has the Blue&ME radio/Bluetooth system.
These are known to develop a fault which slowly drains the battery even when everything is switched off. And also has a connection to the CanBus system (which can lead to issues of flashing odometers etc).

Is it possible that your issues relates to this in any way? Seems odd to generate an ABS fault code from that but given the weird way unrelated error can occur across these cars maybe not out of the question - and your error is related to CanBus communications. The main B&Me control unit sits under the drivers' seat and can be unplugged - but beware that doing that also then triggers errors! There are other threads around this forum that cover the Blue&Me issues.
Yes, 2014 with Blue & Me. But, I swapped it to an Android radio over 18 months ago and have had the flashing speedo ever since. One day I will get MEs and do a proxy alignment!

That means even whilst it had the old failing battery on I didn't get this issue, so not sure it will be relevant now unless it has developed further issues with the B&Me unit.

Couldn't find a decent video or photo of the ABS connector, but this one is near enough the same


You press the arrow , might not be an arrow on yours and the lever will lift up, should move freely untill it starts to cam out. I just move it a bit and push it back down, before releasing it fully, there's enough cam force to snap pins off if they are corroded together

While you are not using the B&M unit if it remains connected (under the seat - not the head unit) and has failed since it has every potential to be draining the battery. Just my experience.

You don't need an adaptor cable to read ABS codes -- it's all read through the OBD socket under the dash. (The listing here shows when you do need one -- when A3 appears in a red box -- A3 means the yellow adaptor cable. So far as I can see you don't need any other coloured leads for the Panda (the key to these codes is at the top of the linked page)
