Grande Punto HELLO! 1.2 8v creaking steering

Hi all at the forum I'm mikey a newbie in need of some advise. My grande punto 1.2 8v 2006 has creaking steering, its sounds like rubber on metal mainly when steering to the right and gets a lot louder when I've been driving for a bit when the car warms up. When I steer slowly its loud but when I turn the wheel quickly it make no noise at all n also happens when stationary. Any advise would be much appreciated.

My wife's punto evo had this same problem but it went away on its own,it sounds like the suspension top mount,but a year on its still not come back !

the top mount bearing - where the spring is supposed to stay still , as the damper unit turns with the steering

Thanks for the info do u know how much it would cost to replace top mounts or is it worth doing myself I just need to buy some spring clamps.

Could it be ARB bushes or drop links I had the drop links changed few months back n seems to be getting worse since then but the sound was there before that.

Exactly what we had, put you hand on the spring and get someone to turn the wheel,if it's the top mount you will feel the spring vibrating.
