Hi has anyone got any tips to increase the power output 1.2 8v engine for the grande punto without spending an arm and a leg ? Thanks

Realistically.. It's a 20 year old design
Getting it running as designed will make it reasonable, but
Save your money, and NCD..
then buy something livelier later
How many miles on it?
Some wear and deterioration will be normal..
But there is room for improvement
My 199 puntos are all 75 and 85 hp
Pretty sure the 1.2 was only @65 when new..
It's a pretty heavy car.. BUT it's cheap and safe

This gets asked from time to time on here about the 1.2 8v, and the answer is always no, sadly.
You can always spend money on tuning goodies that might make it sound more powerful, or even make you think it's more powerful.
But to get any noticeable increase costs a fortune.
1.4 would be quicker, cheaper to buy and run than a modified 1.2.
I'd spend the money on decent suspension, brakes and tyres.
If you want to go faster, maybe fast road driving tuition?

It’s just a massive pain because insurance is a scam they are charging me almost three grand as it is so i’m trying to just get the most out of it as i can , do you know what i can expect from an ecu tune , i know it’s not going to be much but it’s throttle response and acceleration im after reallyHi and welcome, Jack

Yep, quite agree:/ It gets even worse if you start modifying your cars.
General consensus seems to be diesel can benefit from a remap, petrol not so much.
