Hi all. New to the site. My daughter has a 2014 500 1.2 Lounge. Changed the handbrake cables recently and the retaining clip that fits to the cable cabining inside the drum has split. I’ve done some searches on google, eBay, AutoDoc etc and can’t find one anywhere. Not sure if it has a special name but just looking for some help to source one. Thanks

Solution
In general retaining clips come pre fitted to handbrake cables so as you locate them into the backplate they snap into place and to remove you have to squeeze them together to fit back out of the hole.
It may be possible to fit a suitable circlip to secure the cable, generally most of the pressure on a handbrake cable when fitted is pulling it tighter to the backplate unless the adjustment is very slack.
Obviously for peace of mind you want it correct.

Thanks, yes I thought so too but all the ones I’ve found on sale (including the ones I bought) don’t include the metal clip and can’t find the clip on its own? Very strange

Ebay, Star lock washers
Measure the the widest point on the end not the slim section behind it, it's easy to get one too small

Yes, I think the star lock washers sound the best option (are they what we used to call "spire clips) I suggested the circlips as I always kept an assorted box of them handy.
I am surprised the new handbrake cables don't include the correct fitting clips, I thought they used to, maybe it was just Fords etc. as I recall we had to break the old ones off to get the cable out then push the new cable in to the backplate until it clicked into place, probably Mk 2s,3s, and 4s Escorts etc. but maybe I am wrong.;)
