Technical Grinding noise when in gear

Hi guys,

I have a 2013 Punto 1.2. When in gear, there is a very noticable grinding noise but I don't know where exactly it's coming from. I stick my head out the window and it's hard to tell if it's a transmission problem or not.

The noise completely goes away when I press the clutch or if I put it in neutral and free wheel.

I have searched the forums and not found the exact answer I'm looking for. Any ideas what the issue might be?

That sounds odd

So quiet if sat at lights in neutral..

Quiet if clutch depressed coasting.. or only if 'out of gear'

Hey,

Yes, there is no noise at all when the clutch is depressed when in gear or whilst in neutral when rolling. Hope that makes sense!

Could be the gearbox ..

Worth getting it looked at..

Should be simple yes..no answer

Try a local garage first

Do let us know what you find

Did you ever find the reason for the grinding noise?

Think I had a similar problem but only when the car was moving.
