quite agree ian.the legacy he left behind is to be remembered for ever.

I don't think anyone has said he deserved to die... I walked around to the Best family home this morning to pay my respects and left a Man U shirt. There's a bit of a shrine built up.

My Girlfriend and I met George Best about 6 months ago through a friend of the family who knew him very well.

I can honestly say that he was one of the nicest blokes I have ever met. He seemed unaware of his own fame or no longer wanted to be in the public eye.

The person who introduced him to us knew him very well as he was living at a near by health farm where she worked. She was a very close friend to him and from what she has told us it seems that the media tried to blame George for everything that happened in the last year of his life (I mean the fights with his girlfriend and him "getting drunk".).

Apparently he hadn't touched a drop of alcohol for the past few months. It is a shame that he started to beat his addiction but was unable to follow it through.

Some of the comments that have been made on here are a bit harsh but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

In my opinion a great man has been lost and I am thrilled that I was able to meet him.

My thoughts are with his friends a family. RIP BESTIE

What a waste of a good liver, that should have gone to someone else who deserved it more!

TBH, whatever he did for football, I know that in recent times I am sick and tired of reading about him and seeing him in the headlines. He has only himself to blame.

Amen, have to agree full heartedly with that comment, TBH, he WAS a great footballer, but all siad he wasted away the rest of his life and took somebody else's liver and wasted the rest of his life away with that.
