Styling Gaiters

Hi all,
This is my first post, I just got my punto as a first car on Saturday! lovin it so far. Can anyone tell me if changing the handbrake and gear knob + both gaiters will make them both loose and easy to pull off.
I have a mate that has changed his gear knob and its really loose, just wondering if that always happens. Also, the gearstick pulls up to get in reverse, does that mean I can't use any old gear knob? does it need to be a special one?

I believe the gaitor is a Clip on base
So this is easily removed

and its just cable tied on further up - undo the tie and it should pull up and off easily

As for the Knob - Dave could easily get his off *sooo many jokes i know*
But like i tried, but wasn't fused and left it

Once you pull it once, it gets easier the 2nd time
