Just asked the lady.It does not have electric windows or central locking. It has not got ABS, I've spent enough time in the engine bay to remember that !!!.

Not sure on both, however I have the old ecu if front of me(original one off the car) and it definitely says 59F. M3

right fair enough
but you still need to ascertain windows central locking and abs options and to stop speedo flashing syndrome you will need to get instrument cluster off seller too

Why would I need the instrument cluster ?

because it talks to bsi through can to show mileage etc
wrong speedo means mileage will flash unles you drop lucky and it certainly dont seem like youved had any luck lately

No you're right there, even bad luck would have been better than the luck I have has with this car. So even though this set matches the car ie 59F. M3 no elec windows or central locking and no abs, what your now saying is that it could also be a difference head unit and this set still might not work ?

damm ive just scrapped a mia model i would gladly have given you all the bits less the ecu:bang:

you need the bsi of same model ie your spec is base or mia ,have you no local scrappers

Do I take the pluge and buy the kit or not. Hmm. You've placed the seeds of doubt now.

it certainly seems to fit your bill
thats all i can say

with regards m2 and m3 ive done a bit more digging
m2 =1 lambda
m3=2 lambdas

im assuming your x reg has 2 lambdas and cam sensor then?

why not ask ebay seller and ask him to throw speedo head in for a little extra postage?

I see what your saying and the web site is saying however the one I took off clearly states M3. Its only got one crank sesnor and one lambda sensor - which suggests M2.

Have just spoken to the owner and told her not to waste any more money and send it to the scrap yard.

Hi all,first post on the forum,but i just thought i'd add some input to this thread,iv'e just repaired a w reg 2000 punto with the same faults,fuel gauge on empty,fuel light flashing and won't start.
I checked to see if it had a spark and i didn't so all i did was purchase a plug and play self coding ecu of ebay for £29..it took 2 mins to fit and the punto fired up first time.No need to change anything else.

I had this problem with my PUNTO MK2, fuel gauge light flashing and the city power light on, the car cranks but not starting, nothing worked i thought i will just dumb the car, by luck i removed the AC Cable that connected to the condenser pressure sensor under the left light bulb and the car started without any problem!
