General  Fuel Consumption?

General  Fuel Consumption?

I think i understand the confusion. If i fill up reset the trip then use quarter of the tank(about 10 litres thats where it came from) then fill up To full not what i think i used then use the actual litres from the pump and the millage off the trip computer to work out the mpg(y)

I'm with you. That's fair enough, and like you day you can calculate the MPG. I think I miss understood you myself and assumed you were on about putting 10L in from when the red light comes on etc. So sorry if my last post sounded patronising, although I think a few others now realise what I'm on about with tank level vs guage level read out.

when I bought the car it was a good 150mile drive back home, getting home and playing with things the average mpg was 60!? either the previous owner was a genius or it was down to me following my grandad all the way...haha! The best iv'e squeezed since then is 58mpg! Now its more like 28-33mpg but thats due to a illness we all call 'Heavy Foot' ;)

Done 45 miles and the first quarter tank has been used. Absolutely as economical as my fuel saving skills allow.

Though, as mentioned before, the tank is not a box so hopefully its just narrow at the top or something.

Not trying to make a point here btw as I know this is not accuarate at all but will post all results when im due for a fill up, including how much I fill up.

Maybe its just normal and im getting paranoid about how much i spend ;)

Me and my mate last night discussed how much petrol is now, I was saying I remember when I passed my test 8 yrs ago, it was 71.9p for normal unleaded at the 24 hrs place round the corner from us. It is now roughly double that where I live, now thats some crazy petrol inflation!

Used to put £5 in my fiesta I had and that would be roughly 1/4 tank or enough for a few evenings or a week depending what I was doing. £5 then was like 7.5L now is around 3.5 not even 30 miles from £5 now.

Filled up with the Tesco Super Super Dupa petrol last night, £30 something like 22L, just around 1/2 a tank. I dread to think how much petrol some people eat through.

We also worked out 100,000 miles in a cayanne S at 18mpg which is being nice, as around £33,000 worth of petrol, which I thought is insane!

it is crazy!

I started driving 2 years ago and then £10 in my little corsa would quarter fill my tank. Think it was about £1.10.

Anyway, I can see this quickly getting off topic...fuel price is always a sensitive one :p

There's an old garage up by me that no longer sells fuel, have to pass it to go further hundred yards to get fuel and it still has an old priceboard up. 73p. It's a right **** take, Haha.
