Walked past the FiaT car this morning taking the dog for a walk
The Missus remarked
"Why have you got a camel on the bumper?"
My response
" What does it say on the bumper?"
"Camel Tow"

Two hours spent redecorating the spare bonnet this afternoon
All done freehand will a sponge roller; black and grey emulsion; stencils; white and black rattle cans and sander
Not bad for a first attempt
Wanted to sort of reflect the fabric of the UT seats
Rather than just do the usual chequers you see on Nu-RaTs
Wanted to torch part of it . . .
tried meths
tried petroleum jelly
tried petrol
tried a small blow torch on it
BUT the emulsion doesn't burn :bang:
Need to get a BiGGeR BLoW ToRcH onto it :devil:

I'm a RiPPoFF ARTiST that plagiarizes other people's work...
Seriously though I did do A Level Art at school
AND
for a while as a teenager I got myself a community funded job LEGALLY painting murals in my home-town
We turned the childrens ward at the local hospital into a big 'Circus Tent'
complete with big old cast iron victorian radiators painted up as tigers and zebras.....
Got ourselves in the local papers
AND
appeared on BBC 'Midlands Today'
9 months after we finished the hospital ward but they got us to FAKE painting the tiger radiator for the cameras.......:yuck:

was hoping the blue hammerite I used on the spokes was going to turn out lighter
Thinking of maybe doing a remix/repaint with blue hammerite and aluminium paint combined to get a lighter blue for the spokes.....

I think the "gay rim" looks better (can rimming be "straight"?) - I think the problem with the blue is that, unless it matches the blue of the car exactly, it just looks wrong. Still, I'm sure you like it looking wrong, as presumably that would be non-gay then, it gets all so confusing. I suspect you're enjoying those rusty wheelbolts and the missing centrecap, whereas I would feel more relaxed with chrome wheelbolts and a shiny round FIAT badge in there
I have a similiar problem on my 156 because the usual silver of the alloys I chose is not the same silver as the bodywork; you can see the clash in the photo below - but at least I have dealt with my rusty wheelbolts and orange side repeater I think silver cars shouldn't have silver wheels, unless they match.
That's an idea - why not get dark blue paint mixed to the colour code... if you don't already have that paint for repairing the RUST on the front wing etc... :idea:

Seriously though, you better watch which paints you use Joolzy, hammerite reacts with most other paints & ends up going like paint stripper.
Have you put chrome bulbs in them side repeaters Alex? I recon a very light goldy silver would work well with that paint...

So seeing the latest stickers that people have been buying off eBay
I thought I'd do my own version.... :hmm

Copied the "scrappage scheme" logo from a boiler replacement deal in Australia!!
Then added the "SURVIVOR" in a rustic font I had that came with the R0B0 Cutter
If anyone wants something similar give us a shout

Sadly I don't have enough posts yet to hyperlink it for you, but just google or search at instractables directly.
It basicaly involves rustoleum and high density foam rollers.
And I bet it would work awesome as I have been doing the same thing with wood and that duratek stuff that is like plastic... and get near mirror smooth finish, on par with spraying.

Nifty tool you got there I was thinking today how cool one would be for makeing new dials.
First layer white, with all gradients and text cut out.
second layer colour to fill the gaps, maybe nice lazer blue.
Third layer black with text cut out, this is to prevent the backlight from shining through, anywhere but on the markings.... lol, sounds like alot of work though.
