boiler scrappage!!!!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8403593.stm

i got no idea how the scheme will work, or even how much a new boiler will cost (anyone?) but who knows maybe bits of the new potterton will be made of ground up rover......
A new boiler (going on the cost of the work we've just had done under the Warm Front scheme), in the region of £3,000...that's a combi condenser boiler, old radiators flushed clean and a timer and thermostat fitted.

Well, our central heating boiler was fitted in 1977 (and was a "death trap" whilst the other boiler [much more modern] was "f*cking lethal" according to the plumbers that did the work lol)

The hot water boiler was upstairs in the back bedroom. Soo, that's probably why it cost so much (both boilers out, all hot water pipes removed from back bedroom etc)

Apparently, Mum was given one quote of £4,500 for the same work by a local plumber lol.

had our boiler since we moved in (little over 19 years) and only ever had a problem once. combi boilers from what i hear whilst more efficient are less reliable:confused:

Probably true, as there is much more potential for things to go wrong due to there being so much more "stuff" in them (more technical terminology there Jai).

And then there's condensers........

I believe that you need to have a G-rated boiler (less than 70% efficiency) to qualify for a £400 scrappage deal.
Sadly(?) our 10 year old boiler is rated as 78.5% efficient (D-rated). New condenser combis are about 93% efficient.
How much a new boiler costs depends upon what you buy of course.

We getting new boiler new radiators in all rooms (including bendy window bay ones) getting system flushed and thermostat things on rad's

all for about £2000:D

For getting a good price like that you can give yourself a good ol masterbate :D
What if the above didn't cost us a penny, alll paid for by the Government? :D
