Foreign vehicle.. From where?

I was running close to a car the other day,

No indication of its Origin

BMW.. but not what I would term EU plates

Looks "Nordic" to me..

I'd say Dutch export plates. You can make the registration online and even print the 'plate' on a standard A4 piece of paper

Not something I had considered...

BUT.... Around 30 years ago.....
I lived near a European Energy Research facility(Oxford, UK)

Plates on the Europeans cars were also Black on White, and read 955 X ###


So suspect you are correct,

Nowadays most of the EU plates are black on white, except the standard Dutch and Luxemburgish plates (which are black on yellow) and sometimes dealer / temporary / diplomatic etc., which can have different font colour. Some EU countries have green background for EE vehicles for easier recognition (however it's not an ideal solution, the electronic recognition systems can't read the colours, so those car are geting tickets from for example Austria, as they sometimes put higher temporary speed limits for combustion engines vehicles - the German EE vehicles have simply the EE letters added at the end of the regisration number). I think that Polish hydrogen vehicles will have blue background. Someday
The unique thing on the Dutch export plates are they don't have the NL nor the EU flag on them. Just to make it cheaper to produce.

I'm by no way passing judgement on you and you can of course do what you want , but you do realise if a cop caught you doing that it's a straight 6 points and £200 fine - boom even for a split second - not worth it
