Panda (Classic) Fizzle :)

Seems like we've all been wondering where you've been and missing your regular posts. I know all to well what you've been having to deal with and hope all goes well with your mum. Look after yourself too!

Best wishes to your mum and yourself fella - i thought i saw fizz out on the ringroad the other day but spotted to late to see if it was you or not. A off-roader guy i know local said to me the other day he wants a panda 4x4 if money gets bad and it comes to that - sure he would be a great owner, all his cars etc are really nice condition and well pampered ;)

What a nice little car it is! Seeing someone keeping their panda so clean and shiny made my day!

Fizzle's out of action as the windscreen wiper arm has come off the spline, it's well worn and looks like it had been glued on previously.

I haven't had much opportunity to get the one off the 4x4 what with the weather and looking after mum.

It looks a real pain to get at though, I may try a bodge.......

It's time Fizzle got fit for the road again, I had him out for a drive round the other day and he's running as well as ever I just can't risk any journeys with the chance of rain.

I've spotted a new wiper motor on ebay for £60 so I'll bite the bullet and get that, I'd only worry about it happening again if I bodged it and with the miles we'll be doing this year well worth it for peace of mind.
Are the motors easy to fit? I did think of taking one off the 4x4 but then it only makes more work later on.

The only other niggle I've got with Fizzle is one of the tyres goes flat in a few days, when I had the tyres fitted I was told one alloy wheel had a flat spot and it might happen.

I was thinking of having an inner tube fitted until I can have the wheels sorted - or I can go back to steelies for a bit.
Can anyone recommend an online retailer for inner tubes?

It's hard to know what's best to do about anything at the moment, people keep telling me to try to get back to "normal" - I was never that to start with so I'll crack on with maintaining/modding Fizzle, I probably need dissuading from a few ideas but I'm stubborn and a bit deaf...

To be honest (and also being stubborn and a lot deaf...), I think you just need to do what feels right for you. I'm not so sure -- even if you kept yourself fully occupied -- you'd stop unwanted thoughts entering your head; but having something to focus on (especially a Panda) may help for a while.

There is, as you say, no "normal" -- and you've never been in this position before: so it's as abnormal as hell. It'll also take time to adjust -- how long is anyone's guess: so don't feel you have to meet anyone's expectations but your own (and, even then, don't feel that you've let yourself down if you don't reach them...).

All I really know is that you have to put yourself and your family first; and worrying about other stuff is way down the list.... Look after yourself.... :)

On a personal level I can't add to Stephen's reply, but with regards to the wiper motor I can help.

The motor and linkage is actually a 10 minute job to remove so taking the one from the 4x4 is perfectly feasible. With the wiper arm removed you undo the big nut on the spindle. Then behind the soundproofing felt behind the spare wheel you will find the wiper motor and linkage, undo the couple of bolts that hold it in place and wriggle it out from behind the heater. (y)

I've ordered a new wiper motor off ebay as I don't trust using the one off the 4x4 - plus I'd only need to change that one later anyway.

I'm going to sell the mk3, keep Fizzle as main transport and get the Y10 sorted as no2 car as that's costed and in safe hands with Vernon.

I'll keep the 4x4 but have no idea what it needs apart from the engine repairs and doors - it will be for off roading so looks not important, in fact it will be genuine rat look

Fizzle's taxed for another six months, mot is in a couple of months time hopefully no probs with that apart from putting him back on steelies. ;)

I won a set of cinq alloys on ebay and went Barnsley way (no sign of Kes though) to collect them today.
I'm fed up with the big lancia boots catching although love the ride and handling. They'll go on the 4x4 as they should be a better fit with the bigger suspension lift on the rear. Anyway the seller had a 4x4 panda on the drive, twin sunnies, quite a few mods so I told him to get on here and join the madness.

Then it was on to partsworld in Chesterfield to collect an omega axel - sooner or later either Fizzle or Gertie will want one and seeing they accepted a cheeky offer I couldn't resist.

It was a grand little trip out, my new travelling companion lucy the cocker spaniel especially enjoyed sitting in the passenger seat when the boot was full

Tom from partsworld said he's lots of panda stuff yet to list on ebay though no 4x4 fuel tanks. Apparently Fiat are selling off the inventory cheap and what doesn't go to dealers gets scrapped

As long as it's available and crucially selling he'll keep buying the stock in and ebaying it - there's even talk of an auto jumble! I told him to do it - we'd all come!

Oh, and just in case it rained I took the wiper arm off bluey the 4x4, put it on fizzle and it worked, must be the wiper arm that's knackered on Fizzle not the motor spline, bit annoying really as that motor wasn't cheap.

Finally in mk3 news Twizzle has gone to a new owner on the Forum now, I'm sure he'll introduce himself at some point, he's known maxi306 for ages apparently, but we won't hold that against him now will we :p
