Technical fitting a mk2 6speed in a mk1 sporting

hi all

i have a lancia y 2000 model , witch is a mk1 punto in drag , it has the 1242 16v 85 bhp lump fitted as standard with a 5 speed box , so to the queston ...... will a mk2 6 speed box fit in place of a mk1 5 speed remember under the bonnet it s a mk1 punto and is there any difference in the linkages and drive shafts and speedo drive etc between to the

I can't see any real issues. Use the Y clutch (the 6 speed boxes usually have bigger flywheels and clutches), swap the cups (if necessary) the selector box (if necessary) and the likeages over.

It's a not uncommon mod on Cinqs and Seis.

Yes

Use your gear selectors on the top of the box and the bigger clutch is prefable, either clutch will fit.
