Technical fiat ducato 2.8idtd gearbox

have problem getting 1St and 2nd gears,they do select but have crunching to get them in,could this be down to the clutch or linkage problems,rather than sincromech,has any one else had this problem,
the biteing point of the clutch seems half way up the peddal as should be,gonna check transmission oil is full, any other suggestions
