Can't do them through a RAID controller either - need to have the drive plugged directly into an IDE port.

Can do - but it won't be cheap.

I'll need to check the motherboard actually has an IDE ports as well!

First thing to do though is to run a disk benchmark program on the DB machine, to see if there is actually a throughput problem in the first place

Even that's not so simple, just went to run CrystalBenchmark, but as the server is running Server Core, it doesn't support it ... haha.

Do you know any command line based Windows disk testing tools?

Can you not use DISKPERF? set up some monitoring then run something in SQL crazy intensive?

Bit of a chew on but that's the only way I know of on Windows Server core. Shame it's not linux huh? .

I noticed a hang earlier right as I was about to post on t'other thread about about 'FULL' appearing at the top of the screen, when I've only got about 250 PM's. Forgot to take a note of the times though.

Ah, it's ok - so I guess not then.

That "full" was there as I had reversed the condition so I could check it looked ok

Ahh, that explains why I've seen it a few times recently.

I have had a couple of hangs since I posted that btw, the total page loads times were 0.725 and 0.501 respectively though so doesn't seem to be a PHP or MySQL issue in these cases.

I have had a couple of hangs since I posted that btw, the total page loads times were 0.725 and 0.501 respectively though so doesn't seem to be a PHP or MySQL issue in these cases.

Getting this again today, pages are taking up to 5 minutes to load but when they do the figures at the bottom are similar to above, all other websites are loading fine. This is at work on IE8.

How's that even possible? Surely the session has ceased and it's refreshed causing the stats to show what they show.
