Well, it wasn't a mailshot - and it can' be the chat system anymore.
Annoyingly, mySQL isn't dumping anything into the slowqueries log.
CPU usages 10% and memory 2.5 of 4gig in use.
Has to be a disk backlog then..?

If I get time, I'll build a new server up and share the hard drive of the current one to it.
Won't stop the DB freezing, but it might resolve the other hangs. Then if all is ok, just move the hard drive over permanently.

I've started using the mobile version because it doesn't hang at all.
Hangs like the one this morning are becoming far more frequent for some reason.

I have been trying to upload a pic for the last hour, its just not working. Have tried on my Mac and my windows netbook same issue with both
whats the probelm exactly, when does it stop working?

For me, it reaches the point where it says please wait while the photos are uploading and then it just stays like that.
when you select photos, are you waiting for them to upload before you press button to go to next screen?
Yes I am. It finally uploaded after I went and had a bath and came back lol, but then when I clicked submit it wanted me to log in again and when I did that the whole thing was lost.

That's interesting because both versions run exactly the same queries. The only difference is the look. Unless I am missing something.

I use my home internet via my phone and so far I've never experienced any hang when using the mobile version. I'll pay more attention from now on but I can honestly say I've never had the mobile version hang for a minute which the PC version does regularly.

I can honestly say I have experienced no major hangs in the last few months, etc., especially not to the level those on here are experiencing...
In fact, I generally tend to be online from 8am until midnight - and even when certain members post up reports and PHP/SQL reports for hanging, it isn't happening the same for me!
Maybe it is down to the ISPs and/or their network?? :chin:

I have never had any issues until this week.
Basically, pages will not load after a few succesful replies etc.
This will happen during any acitivty at all e.g:
-logging in
-replying
-editing
-opening any page
There is no remedy, I have to wait and just keep trying.
Technically, my internet connection is ~7mb due to living so close to the exchange.
To rule my internet out, the same issue exists at work where we use a LAN connection throughout the building on fibre - internet speed is not an issue here.
This problem is only very recent, no issues up until now.

I'm fine at the shop, no hangs or anything but I do get the occasional hang at home.
