Technical fan belt shredded, huge problem.

hi, two days ago the fan belt on my multipla shredded and the car died on me . it seems that the shredded bits have gone up and jammed the timing belt. my mechanic needed a manuel to check the timing settings as he fears if he dosent check them and they are wrong, when he tries to start the car he could do more damage. problem is there is no manuel made, the fiat dealer said they dont know either!!! what do i do now. i have read on the net of a similar incident and it resulted in the whole engine being replaced. anyone had similar probs or got any advice? thanks.

if you get the gates timing belt there is diagram on the box that shows you the timing marks i hope this helps ps there are kits from skf but there diagrams are not as clear best of luck

Your mech should have or know someone who has the autodata cd which has the cambelt instructions.
