Technical  Failed MOT

Technical  Failed MOT

Feels like a famous quote sort of moment...

  • Winston Churchill: "I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me."
  • Ernest Hemingway: "I drink to make other people more interesting."
  • George Burns: "It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth."
  • Frank Sinatra: "Alcohol may be man's worst enemy, but the Bible says love your enemy."

I like the third best. What about the 2 Mikes?
Yes, 3rd one is the best!

I've done my car apprenticeship with you peoples on the Fiat Forum, so i'm now free to open a garage, charge as much as i like, and if things go wrong, oh well, i'll just charge people more again to fix it LOL
That sounds like a business plan.
Not a good one, but a plan. 😂

I’m just used to it…and a low heart rate is as bad as a high one, my dad, fit as a fiddle for a lot of his life until 50yr, had 7 heart attacks and a quadruple bypass…unfortunately it was Alzheimer’s that got him in the end
When i stopped the 6-8 cups of coffee a day i had withdrawal symptoms, headaches for 2 weeks. I think dementia/alzheimers might be related to diabetes, not sure though.

I'd have some angry customers at the start, for sure, especially with me telling them i need special parts that will take 3 weeks to arrive. But before long it'd be fine :)
Not as furious as when they get given the keys to the Punto courtesy car from “Monster Motors”….poor buggers

I went out to get the codes off my 500X. Any idea whats going on there?

You have do do so much to learn dear boy.....

Are brake linings "bonded" these days, as in "glued on" ?

Any sign of "friction material "lift" noticed " due to corrosion ?

Maybe a better photo needed...

Love your "special tools" GP, and the graph...

Handbrake job getting closer for me on the lads Punto, just waiting for parts availability and costing feedback...

May need help with part number info on auto adjusters GP, please...

Still looking For the old parts which were replaced many miles/months ago...

Still, your Car has an MOT pass now, enjoy...

The thread was a good read, the "handbrake thread" GP mentions to be read next, phone on charge for that.....

I do, but also i make myself look incompetent in order to draw in as many replies as possible. I'd say only around 1 in 4 posts to this forum are "bang on", the rest being well meaning but off target for various reasons. So its best to have a lot of replies.

I spam the thread as well, to keep it close to the top of the "latest posts" list, so the regulars don't miss it.

The graph was pretty good yes.

Be careful you put the left hand cable on the left! It would be so much easier with a lift, scrabbling around under a car doing this is a nuisance.

There isn't much he doesn't know about these cars, if you find high quality adjusters let me know, most motor factors don't sell them, so its a lucky dip on ebay. I've never seen the left/right turning threads that were described earlier.

Still, your Car has an MOT pass now, enjoy...

Thanks, it was a lot of bother. The car is my sons "learner vehicle" now, his test is in March.

I did read that thread, yes.

Is your sons car on the road? Doing OK?

Why don't you have internet at home on a PC/tablet? Most people do these days.

Let, you never changed pedals on a "modern" bike then ?

When using hammers ( cotters ) the smallest one in your box is usually the most usefull.

How do you change the spark plugs in your 8 valve 1.2 fiat engine may I ask ?

Phone charged now so off to read the "hand brake" thread mentioned by GP.

Just read the handbrake guide suggested by GP ( thanks GP ).

I must say that that brake drum came off very easily, very easily indeed !

I just know that removing the drums on the lads car are going to be a real battle this time. They were a battle to remove last time, but I am expecting ww3 this time...

Still waiting for feedback on parts info/situation from shop4parts....
